The complaint is inaccurate in several waysMy employee went to deliver letters and nothing more. When the receptionist asked my employee what it was regarding she only replied, "It's personal." When the two co-workers came out to see what my employee wanted she told them,"I need to speak
to you individually." She first went with the co-worker of the complainant into a private room, closed the door, and gave her the letter with a brief explanation of what it was.She then went back to the reception area and the complainant and she went back to the private room, closed the door, and repeated the processThe conversation was in a private room with no one else presentUnfortunately, when my employee returned with the complainant to the reception area, the other co-worker had told their supervisor what it was regarding and the supervisor raised her voice to my employee, loudly, and in front of other employees and patients, revealing what it was about.It was not my employee who revealed what it was regarding, but the co-worker and supervisor that didMy employee did not violate either the Oregon Fair Debt Collect Practices Act or HIPPA rights.Since there had been no response of receipt of the bill or return of calls for months we had no way to know if the bill had been received or not and if the address was good that we had on fileWe have no wish to tum a bill to collections and damage someone's credit without knowing for certain they have even received the bill.The letters were delivered inaccordance with ORS (2) (g) (A) ...the debt collector may:(A) Write to the debtor at the debtor's place of employment if no home address is reasonably available and if the envelope does not reveal that the communication is from a debt collector other than a provider of the goods, services or credit from which the debt arose.The intent was to deliver a letter in an effort to be fair to the debtorUnfortunately, during the process of the delivery the supervisor/employer found out the nature of the letter which we did not intendWe have revised policy of delivery so that no contact at the place of employment can occur that can possibly result in the employer gaining knowledge of the debtAs a result of this inadvertent employer knowledge, if the complainant will withdraw their complaints to the Revdex.comand HIPPA, we will wrlte off the debt
