We hired Bobby/Construction Rhinos to do a full home renovation including new roof, siding, bathroom addition, plumbing, drywall, and flooring. I’ll start with saying that the team is very nice and likely very competent in basic renovation projects like new flooring or small additions. We love our new bathroom and floors. In general, however, I would not recommend for a major total-home renovation for a few key reasons:
-Lack of organization: Bobby was unable to provide a schedule or timeline for the project. We asked multiple times but never received. As a result, we were left with many started projects that would remain unfinished for months. At one point it seemed every component of the full renovation had been started but none had been completed.
-Poor communication: on at least 5 occasions, Bobby said he would be out to work on the project, and then would be a no show/no call. At one point we didn’t see or hear from him for several weeks. Once, it even got to the point that he said he was on his way and then didn’t show up or call.
-General messiness: piles of garbage were left on the property for months resulting in much of it blowing around the property. On two occasions we were forced to fill his dumpster ourselves because we couldn’t bear to keep the garbage out in the yard. There was also messiness and laziness inside the house. Our new granite countertops have two stains where paint was obviously spilled and then just wiped. Inconsistency in the drywall texture as well as screws showing in the drywall where it wasn’t covered properly.
-Bad Installations: multiple installation issues including the dishwasher and the mini-split AC system resulted in us having to pay experts to come out and repair/re-install.
-Bobby claims to guarantee his work for a year, however he now refuses to return to even finish a few of the projects. For two months, he claimed that our glass shower partitions were at the store for pickup. I’m left wondering what happened to this shower glass. We still haven’t seen these major components of our bathroom renovation. We also still have outlets that do nothing.
