I had Concrete Made New install a coating on my patio and pool deck. Larry M, the business owner, came out to do the estimate and explain their products. For the cool deck around my pool he recommended what he called "Cool Stain" by the *** company saying the product would lower the temperature of the surface of the pool deck.
After the installation of the coatings the edges of the pool deck were not fully covered and were transparent. They also got stain splatter all over my gazebo, landscape lighting, pool cover, and pool tile. The coating also started to peel in some places. I contacted Larry M and explained the problems. He said they would come out and fix the issues and said the coating representative suggested using a sealer to prevent the lifting. After 2 appointments that he didn't show up for they came out and put 1 more coat on the pool deck. The surface looked a little better but the edges of the pool still weren't completely covered and the surface was extremely hot. They still hadn't cleaned the stain off of the pool tile either. I contacted Larry M again and told him about the issues. He said they would call back to take care of the problems but it's more than 6 weeks later and I still haven't heard from him.
I contacted the *** company to find out if the products Mr. M used were compatible with how he used them. The local representative, Jeff Beintendi, had talked to him and told him not to use the sealer, that it would reduce the cooling effect of the cool stain and wouldn't prevent the peeling. Mr. M used the materials in direct violation of the direction of the product manufacturer. Jeff came to my home to inspect the job and said that the entire pool deck would need to be replaced. He also checked the patio coating and said that the clear coat was insufficient and improperly applied.
Hello ***, I also recommend removing the "cool stain" and apply a different, more appropriate product for this application. We have learned that the Newlook products are extremely heat sensitive and should not be used in Arizona unless their formulations are changed. The expense of this procedure will be borne by Concrete Made New. We only ask that we be given the opportunity to do the work. We commit to doing the work in a timely way and will leave our customers home better than before. We apologize for any inconvenience this over site has caused.

Concrete Made New
I do not feel that Concrete Made New will properly take care of the issues with my pool deck. I've talked to several other companies and they say that the concrete coating texture needs to be removed and reinstalled to have a proper surface for any type of coating to adhere to. Concrete Made New only does coatings not concrete substrates so they don't have the knowledge or experience to repair my deck properly. In addition, in the process of just installing the .coating, Concrete Made New splattered my gazebo, pool tile, and landscape lights and wall with stain. I don't trust them to strip and refinish the deck. I fear what kind of damage they will do in the process. Mr. M said they will strip and install a new product in a timely manner but I haven't even heard from him in over 2 months about the issues. I would like Concrete Made New to refund the cost of the price they charged me to stain the cool deck plus the cost that a competent concrete company will charge to remove the deck texture and prepare it for a new coating.
Also, nothing was said by Mr. M about the inadequate thickness of the patio clear coat. I would like this addressed as well.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or need any further explanation.
