They were hired to create new kitchen cabinets. A 3D layout with corner pantry was sent to me from CCC(***) with a text message from her stating, "I'd really recommend doing the walk in pantry...That's the best use of space." This company then took onsite measurements and was given manufacturer specs of all appliances with installation guide of fridge. After, an Email was sent to me from *** stating, "...everything's measuring out perfectly and you'll have plenty of space to get into the pantry with the fridge adjustments..." There was no mention of clearance issues of the pantry door or refrigerator. Cabinets were then installed with no appliances in place. I signed a form stating that the job was complete. During the priming, painting and sealing of the cabinets multiple issues relating to quality of wood, design flaws, measurement errors and quality of construction were found. CCC was contacted numerous times about these issues and had little care to fix their errors. I paid a second company to repair the cabinets in numerous spots. Appliances were installed after the cabinets were painted and sealed, countertops were installed and backsplash finished. The fridge stuck out 10" from the cabinetry and impeded the opening of the pantry directly next to the fridge. *** was called on speaker phone by homeowner and subcontractor and the issue of appliance fit was communicated. ***'s response was, "Why did she buy such a *** big fridge?" After explaining that CCC had the refrigerator specs for the appliances pre-build she agreed to have *** come out to resolve the issue. CCC owners (*** and ***) came to my residents and wanted to exchange the double door pantry for a bifold door. This design was rejected by me due to the aesthetics and that if the door was shut without being folded in first that it would hit the appliances causing damage. With 2 small children the design was impractical. The owners then said I was "whining" and lacked "common sense" so the convo ended

Complete Custom Cabinets Response • May 19, 2020

Here is my response to these accusations:

They were hired to create new kitchen cabinets. A 3D layout with corner pantry was sent to me from CCC(***) with a text message from her stating, "I'd really recommend doing the walk in pantry...That's the best use of space." ---- This is false. I sent an text message to her contractor stating multiple times that the corner pantry was not a good idea. The message she is referring to was never sent to her. It was sent to the CONTRACTOR after working out multiple layouts that were a better fit (for fee I may add). I explained to him the only way to reach anything in a corner pantry is to make it a walk in. That the walk in would work and the best use of space because he told me she only wanted that and that my other ideas, that were a better layout were rejected.

This company then took onsite measurements and was given manufacturer specs of all appliances with installation guide of fridge. After, an Email was sent to me from *** stating, "...everything's measuring out perfectly and you'll have plenty of space to get into the pantry with the fridge adjustments..." There was no mention of clearance issues of the pantry door or refrigerator. ---- In my opinion it does fit perfectly. You can access the walk in pantry. It is all a matter of opinion if she doesn't like the look. Obviously she had a 3d model of how it would look and it shows in the model the fridge sticks out as it should.

Cabinets were then installed with no appliances in place. I signed a form stating that the job was complete. --- It also says they are done to her specifications. Which they are.

During the priming, painting and sealing of the cabinets multiple issues relating to quality of wood, design flaws, measurement errors and quality of construction were found. CCC was contacted numerous times about these issues and had little care to fix their errors.---We actually fixed multiple items. Like remaking doors. We also added walls in her pantry, that was not part of the original agreement for FREE as well as quarterround in this pantry which was also made and installed for free. We also replaced drawer glides for free, that were damaged long after install, because they were removed to paint and bent from being stepped on.

I paid a second company to repair the cabinets in numerous spots.--- Her contractor, whom she had already agreed to have paint, is who she is referring to. The items he "fixed" are done by every painter, on every job. It's part of their job to fix those items before paint. If she had hired an actual painter, this would have been done regardless.

Appliances were installed after the cabinets were painted and sealed, countertops were installed and backsplash finished. The fridge stuck out 10" from the cabinetry and impeded the opening of the pantry directly next to the fridge.---- Every fridge, in every kitchen sticks out. They are supposed to. Again it is her opinion if it sticks out "too" much.

*** was called on speaker phone by homeowner and subcontractor and the issue of appliance fit was communicated. ***'s response was, "Why did she buy such a *** big fridge?" --- I have no memory of this call and I would never speak to a customer that way. So if it was said, I was never told she was apart of the conversation.

After explaining that CCC had the refrigerator specs for the appliances pre-build she agreed to have *** come out to resolve the issue. -- I agreed we would come out and speak to her. We knew going in that nothing could change her opinion.

CCC owners (*** and ***) came to my residents and wanted to exchange the double door pantry for a bifold door. This design was rejected by me due to the aesthetics and that if the door was shut without being folded in first that it would hit the appliances causing damage. With 2 small children the design was impractical --- We offered multiple solutions, and she rejected all of them. But again it is her opinion that it is made incorrectly. You can still walk into the pantry and use all of the space.

The owners then said I was "whining" and lacked "common sense" so the convo ended. --- We would never say a client was whining. These are gross exaggerations.

We did receive an email from ***. We responded to whom we THOUGHT was their lawyer to try to resolve the issue. Since in the email, it stated it was "through the law offices of *** LLC". We waited and did not hear anything back from him. Once we received the email from you, the Revdex.com, we had our lawyer contact Mr.. Mr *** told our lawyer that he did speak with them during an initial consultation, but was not their legal council. He had had no contact with them since that meeting. He did not draft the letter or the email sent to us. To protect our company, I will only be going through a lawyer to resolve this issue. It is obvious that she has no qualms falsifying information, since she is using the name of a law firm without their consent.

Customer Response • May 19, 2020

I am rejecting this response because:

The text message where the owner of CCC stated that she recommended the corner pantry was in fact sent directly to me in a group text between me, CCC and the subcontractor that was hired to do the finishing work. It is attached to this document and you can see I replied to her statement directly. In that thread, she did offer other layout options but they were never offered instead of a pantry. They were different layouts that could be done and I picked the one she recommended. At no time in this conversations or the many I had with her before the cabinets were constructed did she ever say the pantry door wouldn't be able to open or any other concern about the layout.

The 3D model showing the fridge in place is also attached as is the real photos of the kitchen. As you can see the model does not adequately show the final result and that the pantry wouldn't be fully accessible.

The paper I signed does not waive their responsibility of all the issues found after the install date. They can assume that is their free pass for subpar work but it is not.

The painter is hired to paint new cabinets. He had to re-cut shelves that they made the wrong size, bondo the cabinets where the wood splintered and warped, modify drawers to make room for dishwasher waterline that wasn't accounted for and many other issues with quality. I also paid another company to rework the corner cabinet that housed the sink because the sink and faucet couldn't fit in the space allotted for it even though CCC had the specs of these items before they built it. I had to pay extra money and both companies commented on the poor quality of the work. The countertop install even was a nightmare because none of the cabinets were square to the wall so the counters were going in crooked.

The fridge specs were given to CCC pre-build and the email attached shows that she said the fridge will not impede on the pantry opening. The attached photos show the truth. It's not an opinion.

She doesn't remember cussing while speaking about my job. She was called on speaker phone by my subcontractor and she did say what I quoted. I guess she didn't know I was in the room. But this is how she talks about a customer. That is purely unprofessional.

When the owners came to talk about the biggest issue of the pantry door hitting into the fridge and not able to open completely they offered one solution. She said multiple but that is absolutely false. The entire conversation was recorded by me and I was told I was whining (***) and that I should've had common sense (***). I could play it for them if they'd like to hear it again.

I did receive a consultation from the law firm that was mentioned in the letter I had drafted. He advised me that I could take them to court and he would gladly take the case but advised me first to send a certified letter to settle out of court with what could solve some of the problems and save the headache of going to court. I told him I would send the letter and if there was no response from them I'd contact him to file a lawsuit. He agreed that was the best course of action. That is what I did. In the certified letter I stated that legal action WOULD be taken by that law firm if they didn't settle out of court. In no way did I falsify any information and her statement saying that I have no qualms falsifying information just shows the unprofessional behavior that this company is displaying.

Since no accountability is being taken by this company than legal action will be taken on my part. It is unfortunate that a homeowner has to be subjected to all this when I gave them an opportunity to compromise and pay for just a fraction of the issues that these cabinets have. I feel taken advantage of and felt that I completely overpaid for such a poor quality product.
