I went through my warranty company to get my air conditioner fixed. Comfort Pro Heating and Cooling was assigned by the warranty company. My 67 year old mother who lives with me, handled the phone calls, since she is home during the day. The office staff who she communicated with was very rude during most of the phone calls, they even told my mother she did not need to keep calling every day to check the status. They also stopped returning my mother's phone calls. The company did not handle our issue in a timely manner. We had multiple days of triple digit heat, where my elderly mother and older dogs were home, suffering in the heat. We received no written estimate from Comfort Pro for the out of pocket expenses we were responsible for paying, just a verbal explanation over the phone. We were originally told our air conditioner needed six pounds of refrigerant, which costs $80 per pound, only to be told later that we actually needed eight pounds. We were also informed Comfort Pro installed the wrong air filter in the compressor that was for the heater only. I have the air filter in my possession for proof. After paying $790 out of pocket, the issue was not fixed and we decided to have another company fix the issue because we did not want to sleep in 95 degree heat at night any longer. My mother and I also have asthma and sleep with c-pap machines. The new company told us the compressor only holds six pounds of refrigerant, which is different than what Comfort Pro told us. We requested an itemized receipt from Comfort Pro for the out of pocket expenses we paid for, not what the warranty company paid for, and after numerous phone calls, were told they are not authorized to give out itemized receipts and were told to call the warranty company. I feel we are entitled to an itemized receipt, since we paid for it in full and on time.
