Company was contacted to do a dental clinic buildout since Nov 2018 in Des Plaines, keys of the purchased building where officially given to builder on March 24, 2019. Florin *** agreed to deliver the project towards end of April 2019, as my lease was going to terminate last day of april 2019 in my current location in Wheeling; thus, delivery of the build out was time sensitive. I proceeded to issue checks totalling $102,500.00 in payments in the month of April 2019 as my lease was expiring. To date this company has failed to complete the project, initially the company started the roughs but in May 2019, the project was abandoned. Some times 1 person would be sent to the building just to browse around but not to do any work. Despite the many attempts, phone calls, text messages and requesting to meet with me to discuss what was going Floring either ignored my requests and/or made false promises. The project is approx 50% complete on Aug 21, 2019 - I met with Florin and asked if he was going to finish the project, asked if he could not complete it due to man power or not being interested anymore because he was taking many other projects to just let me know and to return the amounts I had already given him. On this meeting he indicated he would deliver the project by Sept 20th 2019, but on Aug 23 he sent a txt saying he was going to generate change orders and that he needed $15,000.00 more dollars to continue with the project. Thus at this point I have concluded that this company is only interested in getting as much money as possible and not deliver the project.

We have no problem on completing the project, we fallow the rules according to the village on performing the work and on passing are inspection accordingly and to the village is cod. We have issue a timeline with a completion date to *** dental office. However with that being said we had an agreement with us based on progress of work once Drywall‘s start a progress payment for $15,000 will be made. They have failed and refused to pay the progress payment. The amount claiming buy them it is correct but that includes additional work and adding to are scope off work.At this point we would like to complete the project but in order for us to do so a progress payment has to be made based on the agreement so we could supply the remaining material that is needed so project could be complete.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

After much correspondence, much waiting & much patience - *** Family Dental has concluded that either this company did not have the interest, did not have the men power and/or above all did not have the knowledge/skills to perform this type of project. *** Family Dental proceeded to obtain bids from several general contractors – all proposals are in agreement that substantial damage exists in this build out, that some plumbing, some electric, most framing, all drywall, all floor needs to be corrected. The damage is substantial and larger dollar amounts are now required to complete the project. *** Family Dental will only allow Comfort Home Remodeling to continue with the project if an independent Inspector is hired to monitor the project, the cost of this inspector is $25,000.00. This amount would need to be paid by Comfort Home Remodeling. And Change orders would only be allowed for finishes, such as ceiling laminate, lime stone veneer. Floor would need to be leveled first, before placing any tile. And finally the delivery of the project would be within 6 to 8 weeks.

Sincerely,

Victor

Comfort Home Remodeling is refusing to work and has said they will away from the project until a $25,000 off-contract progress payment is made. All required progress payments and change orders totaling $242,376.50 have been paid according to Section 7 of the contract and additional change orders. The next and final payment is the Completion Payment when all work has been completed.

Work commenced November 2017 with a 6 month estimation of work. The project has been ongoing now for 12 months with no predicted completion date. Reasonable delays due to zoning and permitting lasted roughly 3 months, but there have been periods of weeks or months where no significant progress was made. The last incomplete schedule was provided September 28th with a projected completion date of October 31st, 2018. Failure to Perform formal notice was issued September 4th and ignored. Milestones were outline in the notice and all have been missed with minimal attempt to remedy the issues. No new project completion date has been projected.

At their own expense, Comfort Home agreed to perform off-contract work to remedy damage due to neglecting to secure the home from extensive water damage to out-of-scope portions of the home. This includes redoing existing middle floor drywall, trim/casings, hardwood floors. Floor has yet to be completed and trim/casing has not yet begun, leaving the house in worse condition than the start of the project in these areas.

I am happy to provide the contract, change orders, proof of payment, estimated work remaining, photos of current project state, email and text message correspondence, phone records.

The owner was fast to provide me a quote. A Family friend told me Comfort Home was the right place to go to if needed my kitchen redone. I can easily say I don't regret it! Many other companies failed to give me quotes below my budget

I contracted Comfort Home Remodeling to remodel a second story addition. They were not only very prompt and helpful but they were able to get the job done in a short amount of time. I had a lot of questions for Florin and he answered each of them and guided me throughout the entire remodeling process. I appreciate that this company was very understanding of my needs and wants. From start to finish this company made sure I was satisfied, I will definitely contact them again for any other home improvement projects that I have.

We bought a house and Comfort Home Remodeling Corp was the contractor that built the house. We had a punch list of items that needed to be done including fixing hardwood floors in the master bedroom. The floors were supposed to be completed by 12/31/2017 and they still are not completed. The issues included buckled wood floors, mismatching stain and unfinished sanded floors. The company said they would finish the floors but after multiple attempts to contact the company (with no response from them)I decided to contact the Revdex.com for assistance. I am happy to provide pictures of the unfinished floors to the Revdex.com.

Our place was remodeled by Comfort Home Remodeling Design. This was the best experience we have ever had in terms of communication and quality of their work. I would highly recommend their services to those who is looking for a contractor in Chicago land area.
