Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because of what was previously said. Changing the requirements of a program is considered bait and switch and is unacceptable. This complaint will remain open if the response continues to come back with the same response of the program never being a guarantee and that the program's requirements are now different from the time of admission. This is completely unacceptable.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
At the time of the student’s matriculation at the undergraduate level, the graduate (dual degree) program in the [redacted] College of Business was available. Upon his admission to the undergraduate degree program at the University of Denver, the student was not guaranteed acceptance into any graduate level program at DU. Admissions requirements for graduate (in this case, dual degree) programs are entirely separate from a student’s initial application and acceptance at the undergraduate level. The entrance requirements changed for the [redacted] College of Business MBA dual program, now requiring that students demonstrate an outstanding academic profile. Furthermore, the structure of the program now requires that a student enroll completely full time, meaning that an undergraduate must complete his undergraduate degree requirements in 3 years so that he may enroll in the graduate component of the program for 2 years, rather than blending the last two years in both graduate and undergraduate classes. As with any academic program, there are no guarantees that admissions requirements remain unchanged across time. Faculty continually evaluate the program with respect to market needs. The student has been advised of the changes to the program, as well as the faculty rationale for the changes, should he wish to apply to the program. On September 21, 2016, in advising meeting with the senior associate dean, the student was advised that he could consider alternative educational programs within the [redacted] College of Business that may better suit his career plans. Should he wish to apply to the original dual degree MBA program, or to any other program within the [redacted] College of Business, he may do so.
