I am rejecting this response because: The original technician told me there was no way to replace the gas valve as none existed and the part was obsolete. It is commonly known that a universal gas valve replacement IS available and the owner of Colorado Discount Heating and Cooling admitted this to me when I called to complain about his technician. He apologized and said his technician must not "Have been trained" on this universal replacement valve, but, indeed, one was available. I called the original technician and he also said he did not know about the valve, which seemed unlikely as he presented himself as an expert on all facets of furnaces. It is disingenuous to pretend to be concerned about my safety when he apologized for the technician's attempt to sell me a new furnace and said he was fully aware of the replacement gas valve and would talk to his technician. My furnace is old, but perfectly safe and it is a further crime to insinuate the the technician who DID NOT try to rip me off is somehow inept. Shameful!!
