Colonial Generators Reviews (%countItem)

I want my $8,000 Deposit back, since Colonial Generator never installed the 22kw whole house generator incl. buried propane tank.
In order to have a whole house generator for my 98 year old mother-in-law, I contacted Colonial Generator website and requested a quote. They called me back and we setup an appointment with the Sales Rep. (Steven W) at mom's house. We agreed to get a 22kw Generac with a 250gal buried propane tank. Mr W emailed me the proposal and I e-signed the $16,000 contract on 01/28/2019. I send additional papers and the up front deposit of $8,000 to Melissa H, the Office Manager. She acknowledges in an email from 02/07/2019 that she received all necessary paperwork. I asked for an update on the construction on 03/17/2019, which M. H answered on the next day and said that the gas contractor has not pulled a permit yet. I asked for another update via email on 04/28/2019 which never was answered by anyone. So I started calling the branch and received nothing but excuses from "Bill" the Branch Manager. So nothing happened at all. I send them on 06/24/2019 a certified letter, which was received by M. H on 06/26/2019. With that letter I made clear that I cancel the contract and I requested the full deposit of $8,000 back. Since then, no one contacted me or called me back. I left numerous voice messages - nothing. I also left a voice message at the main branch in PA, but they did not return my call either.

Desired Outcome

I want the whole deposit of $8,000 back. Its clear, that Colonial Generator never intended to install the Generator. The job was supposed to be completed within 6-8 weeks. They never subcontracted a gas company for the buried gas tank, never installed or even delivered a 22KW Generac Generator.

Purchased 5-year Service Contract Feb. 15, 2019, for $1500.00. Unable to reach company to schedule service.
I purchased a Generac back up generator through Colonial Generators in 2018. I also purchased their 5-year Service Contract on Feb. 15, 2019, for $1500.00, when the first maintenance was done. When I tried to schedule the annual maintenance for February, 2020, with Colonial Generators, I couldn't reach anyone and my calls weren't returned. Finally I called Chris J who did the first maintenance on my generator and he stated Colonial Generators was sold to Generx. When I spoke with Generx, I was told things hadn't been worked out yet with Colonial Generators.

Desired Outcome

If Colonial Generators won't honor their Service Contract, I would like a refund back on my card.

Consumer's 5 year service/maintenance plan will be honored at no additional charge to customer. It is acknowledged that consumer did purchase the 5 year plan in Feb, 2019, which in turn did not get properly recorded in Colonial's service database. I spoke with consumer on 2/27 and she was satisfied so long as there would be no additional charges assessed to her, of which I assured her she would not be charged. I also left my personal cell phone and work number with consumer to call me if she is not getting desired results. At this point we consider this matter closed and customer satisfaction achieved.

Customer Response • Mar 06, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Chris F, counsel for Colonial Generators, was able to resolve this matter thus far. Generx came and did maintenance and advised they would be billing Colonial Generators. As long as Colonial Generators pays this bill, the matter is resolved. If bill is not paid, claim will be reopened.
Thank you Revdex.com and Attorney F for your time and attention to my claim.

July 2019 we contracted with Colonial Generators to install a home backup generator. Made a down payment of $7,700. No work and no contact.
This dispute involves Colonial Generators, we dealt with the Branch office in Sanford, Florida. Colonial's home office is at ***. In July 2019 we contracted with Colonial to install a home backup electrical generator. We live in Melbourne Florida which has in the last few years had more than our share of hurricanes. Not wanting to loose power after another hurricane, we signed a contract with Colonial Generators and made a 50% down payment of $7,700 on July 20, 2019. Colonial did nothing for three months. We called in October and were told we needed to sign a Notice of Commencement. We did so and delivered the original document to Colonial. Again we were promised work would commence shortly. Nothing happened. We called numerous times and now understand Colonial may have closed its Sanford Florida office. We contacted the generator manufacturer, Generac, of Wisconsin, and were told Colonial had some problems but things would be taken care of. In January of this year, we were told that Colonial would not return the money nor honor the contract and there was nothing the manufacturer could do. Colonial does not return our phone calls. We have just been out the $7,700 down payment.

At this point, we just want our money back.

Desired Outcome

We want Colonial to return the $7,700 we paid them. They have not provided any service nor have they provided a back up generator as promised.

Colonial Generators Response • Apr 10, 2020

Colonial Generators is working with its Florida fulfillment partner, ***, to get this customer's order completed per the contract. Unfortunately, there were some delays in performance as a result of Colonial Generators exiting the Florida market, but it has always been the priority of Colonial Generators to make the customer whole. *** is currently working directly with the customer and getting them scheduled and installation back on an agreeable track.

Contract was signed in Dec and not completed until July. In Nov, the Co. closed its doors leaving me with a 5 yr maintenance contract that I paid for
Ord Date: 12/19/2018
Ord Num: ***
Item: 7042 Generac 22/19.5 kW Generator
Maintenance Agreement: 5 yr ($1200)
Total contract cost: $13,150.00 (Finance via *** Bank - Colonial financing used them as their financial institution)
Referral Bonus: $700 (Referred a neighbor to them)

From the time of the contract, I made an inordinate amount of phone calls to the vendor. 90% of the time they did not answer the calls, or they went directly to voice mail and never received return communications. These calls were requesting updates/status and as well as following up on scheduled appointments that were not fulfilled. Once they started the work, they failed numerous county inspections. Additionally, the day they delivered the generator, I had to sign receipt of the item, even though the generator and other parts that were ordered were not installed. I discovered that the signature also initiated payment for half the contract to the financial institution. I made multiple payments all the way to the end of July before the product was installed and operational. Once the generator was installed, I had to sign a completion document which triggered the second half of the contract to become effective. From Aug through Oct I made numerous calls requesting the referral bonus. I spoke with Mellissa H (9/13/2019) where she told me that the referral check would be in the mail at the end of the month (email provided). Also, for the inconvenience, they added one additional annual maintenance at no cost. The company closed it doors in Nov and I am now stuck with a useless 5 yr maintenance contract which I paid $1200.00 and no one to take over the maintenance responsibility of the unit. I am attaching my contract as well as an email dated 9/13/2019 from Mellissa H. This company has an office in King of Prussia, PA who I have left numerous voicemails with to no avail.

I also do not know if the permits for the generator installation have been completed, as they had expired and needed to be extended occurred.

Desired Outcome

I am looking for assistance in: 1.) Obtaining guidance as to how to pursue this complaint and/or, 2.) Obtain a refund for the portion of the maintenance agreement and/or 3.) Pass the maintenance over to another qualified Generac representative in the area

Colonial Generators Sanford Florida has failed to deliver the agreed upon product outlined by the signed proposal dated 5/20/2019.
Colonial Generators was hired to install a home backup generator and a proposal was signed on May 20, 2019. After several months on back and forth, Colonial Generators showed up for the installation but did not have the correct paperwork to install the 100 amp fuse box so the installation was delayed. A complaint was initially filed with the Revdex.com Complaint ID; Colonial Generators, LLC in which the following reply was given to the Revdex.com.

"Dear Revdex.com,
Our Florida manager was in contact with this customer today (9/30/2019) over the telephone and the customer is back in agreement with allowing Colonial Generators the opportunity to complete the work per the contract. This will include replacement of the 100 amp panel which customer was referring to in his dispute and was the source of the confusion and reason for delay by the merchant. Customer communicated they are willing to allow Generators to proceed so long as there is an assurance that all work is completed next month. We anticipate no further issues with this project and will be able to meet customer's parameters.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chris ***
Corporate Counsel, Colonial Generators".

As of this writing on October 31, 2019 there has been no contact by Colonial Generators Sanford to schedule an installation of the home backup generator that was agreed upon by the Colonial Generator Manager Sanford nor their Corporate Counsel Chris ***.

Desired Outcome

Per Re: Complaint ID; Colonial Generators, LLC As was agreed upon by the response to the Revdex.com from Chris ***, Corporate Counsel, Colonial Generators I have received no contact by any means during the month of October 2019 about scheduling the installation of the agreed upon 22Kw General Generator by Colonial Generators Sanford Florida in which I deposited the sum of $7,337.00 on May 20, 2019. It appears by the lack of actions of Colonial Generators Sanford Florida that they are not capable or interested in installing what was agreed upon on the written and signed proposal also dated May 20, 2019. As of October 31, 2019, I attempted to contact Colonial Generators (Sanford) by phone to ask if I was on their installation schedule but got no answer after several attempts. I am hereby requesting a full refund in the amount of my deposit $7,337.00 without delay. I should not be charged for any re-stocking or permit fees since none of these delays or misunderstandings were caused by myself the property owner. I have also had to install a gas line and meter from Florida City Gas at my own expense to support the home generator in which was never installed. Respectfully Submitted, Michael
