Review: My father and I wanted to purchase one 1oz gold bullion gold eagle, and one 1oz gold bar for the price of $2510.00. When my father gave the sales clerk $2500 in $100 bills, which was previously counted at home, the proceeded to take the cash behind the counter, out of our sight in a money counting machine. He proceeded to recount the bills and said I only gave him $2300 in $100-bills. The only explanation is that two bills were taken away from the 25 bills that were handed to the clerk before being inserted into the money counter. My complaint is that the cash was taken out of our sight to insert the cash into the money counter, instead of dropping the money into the money counter in front of us. After returning home, my father counted the money remaining in his possession and concluded that he had not miscounted the original $2500 that were handed to the clerk at the time of the transaction. No receipt was provided. As we are not frequent gold buyers, we were stumped by the transaction, but after further reflection came to the conclusion that the sales clerk must have taken away $200 without us noticing, behind the counter, before inserting the remaining $2300 into the money counter.Desired Settlement: As no receipt was provided and the transaction was all cash vs goods, I understand that our claim is weak. The refund of $200 would be the optimal outcome, but a secondary outcome is to warn people of what we believe is a common trick during cash sales by this business. The sales practice of inserting cash into a money counter out of sight of the customer enables straight out theft by the sales clerk, fosters mistrust, and should be stopped immediately.
