Codec Polished Concrete & Epoxy

After I asked for a refund of a $7,000 deposit, *** has not responded and he then changed the name of his company on ***
On 10/31/17, I gave *** a check for $7,000, made out to Centric, for a deposit for epoxy flooring on our condo in Lexington. The project was in the planning stage, and it took much longer than anticipated before the floorplan was finalized and we were ready to move forward with the installation of flooring. I contacted *** on 01/11/2020 to tell him we were ready to move forward with choosing our floor's colors and having it installed. He replied: "I would like to say that because it's been so long which I'm sure you understand, the price of epoxy etc etc has gone up. I would feel more comfortable about completing this project of the entire balance was paid in full before we start the work.. I have taken another job and now I do epoxy on the side."

Alarmed, I responded: "We don't pay up front in full for contractors. If that won't work for you, then we will accept a full refund of our deposit." After he failed to respond, I called and left a voicemail with the details of my check and my mailing address so that he could process our refund. Still no response. Then he changed the name of his business on his website and on *** to Codec Polished Concrete & Epoxy. Even more alarmed, I researched a bit and discovered that he and his wife have repeatedly started new LLCs after the administrative dissolution of the previous LLC. Same company, slightly different name.

At this point, I am extremely wary of ***'s business practices and I am definitely not willing to give him the remaining balance of $4,000, just to hope that he will actually show up to do the job. I would like a full refund of my deposit of $7,000.

His attention to all the little details like taping off areas was above and beyond our expectations. The whole crew was professional and very respectful around myself and my young children . We were so impressed with the entire process from the first phone call, the quote, install and clean up we have recommended Centric to all our friends and church! Definitely quality work and worth every penny! Looking to have our garage floor done this summer!
