Built a detached garage and was supposed to landscape around it so it wouldn't flood every time it rainsAfter many, many delays he decided to not finish and won't return calls or emailsYou are taking a risk of paying for an unfinished jobPay attention to negative reviews for Chuck
No matter what you do, do not hire Chuck Chambers, regardless of the name of the business he is using. We hired him to tear down an old garage and build a new carport in its place based on some really good reviews on a different website and under a different company name. CHR Design. Chuck is very smooth talking and comes off as very knowledgeable. His bid came in under every other bid, and he seemed to have some really good ideas. He wanted money up front to hold our spot which we stupidly gave him. After that, it took more than a month after the agreed up on start date to get Chuck and his crew out here. Once he was here, the crew would show up at most three days a week and work about 4 hours. Throughout the fall, Chuck and crew would get some work done, ask for a draw for supplies, and then not show up again for two weeks at a time. Finally, with us having paid 85% of the agreed upon price and only having received about 60% of the agreed upon work, we fired Chuck. This, after promises to do better. It was then that we saw all of the other negative reviews for Chuck's other companies. Same story for us. Worst contracting experience we've ever had. And the work was not even good.
I am an experienced general contractor in the greater Cincinnati area. I contracted Chuck's roofing crew to replace a roof. His crew started out well but within two days they were nowhere to be found. He sent me several messages about being there the next day or two days from then. All the while more water was getting into the jobsite because he didn't dry in the roof prior to leaving for several days. I had to have my guys finish his work. They also had to redo some of the work that had been done by his crew. I have sent him a bill for the amount I overpaid. I do not anticipate him paying me back or even responding to this complaint. He is not at all qualified for any sort of home improvements. Thanks
