Club Pilates

Started my membership around September 2021 at Club Pilates. From their persuasion, I signed up for the Unlimited Membership of $176 monthly. A few months later, I was given an assignment out of town where they was not a Club Pilates. When I tried to cancel my membership, the General Manager, advised me to freeze my account instead of cancelling it. My assignment is until the end of year and the General Manager contacted me about the freeze on my account on Aug 1 and my account will be billed on Aug 11. The General Manager sent me two links: one to continue with the freeze and one to cancel. At no point did she explain the details of the costs associated with a continued freeze or a cancellation. I cancelled since my anticipated return to town is at the end of the year. Please note that the General Manager had no problem contacting me with multiple emails throughout the past six months. To charge someone a one-month membership for a cancellation without providing the appropriate details is neglectful, dishonest, and thievery. This is how this company treats its military members! Disgraceful.

I was one of the first few customers to sign up for Club Pilates when they announced that there is going to be a new location in oakland NJ. As a result I received a promotional membership. Originaly signed up for 4 classes per month at $87 per month. I signed a 3 month contract in March of 2018. for 4 classes at $87 then switched to 8 classes for $159. September of 2018 I started a internship and told the studio NOT to reinstate my membership until I call and ask to be a member again. From Sept 2018 to November 2018 I was receiving non stop calls from the studio. ( I have never experienced this type of harassment) On November 8th I called the studio and they called me back. I explained that I am not interested in pursuing my membership any further because my schedule physically did not allow me to attend the classes, Plus I was going thru some medical issues. The staff member did not document that I wanted to end my contract nor did she give me contract information how to dissolve this contract. Very unprofessional phone skills and could not problem solve. Club Pilates started charging my CC $159 on Dec 23, 2018 till Dec 23, 2019. 12 payments equals $1908 in total. My husband asked me "do you still attend Club Pilates" he noticed it on our billing statement. I have not taken one single class during the billed period. We called the club and spoke to Erica B(regional general manager) in early January of 2020 and explained this issue to her. She immediately refunded the CC 3 months of $159 and canceled the membership. We asked for the rest of the 10 months to be refunded and was told that it was all they are willing to credit back. We called left voicemails and Texted the owner Alison W with not response. A legal letter was sent to the location with a response from there lawyer rejecting our refund request. WE our out $ 1590 at this point with next step having to file a small claim suit. They are unprofessional dishonest crooks who steal peoples money by billing cc without your consent.
