What I cannot seem to shake is my last experience. I’m told out of the ohhh probably 25 items that they could purchase 4. Breaking down the 4 items let me just preface by stating that 3 of my items were covered up by the bulky coat of mine which equalled the 4th item. It can be almost a rushed feeling when you hit the counter. More often than not the gals are rude, judgy, desperately trying out their best acting skills when their smirk goes into very fake overdrive with no excuse why they only chose a few things. There have been incidents where I thought I would have to be written a check (over $100) and much to my surprise it’s a $20 offer…which brings me to the last visit. Brace yourself because it’s hard to stomach. To keep it short. They chose 4 items which are as follows:
1. Speedo one piece with tags
2. Ava & Viv full length copper puffer coat with tag
3. Micheal Kors mid length black trench with gold hardware, zip up and tie
4. Coach gloves-Brand new (no tags)
Red leather $200 retail.
All of these 4 they offered me $24 in store credit or $20 cash out the door.
Remember I mentioned the only thing I saw on their counter they wanted to buy was the HUGE puffer coat, the others were underneath it. I know for a fact they did this on purpose. Had I put this transaction in perspective and looked at the high end with tags goodies and a $20 being handed to me, I would have passed and done Poshmark or EBay. So if $200 gloves, and they buy for a third of a third that would make the Coach gloves alone $22. I left with the $20 silently but that was my last time bringing my side hustle to them. It’s a popularity contest and completely subjective on who approves and reviews your items anyway. And lastly if I’m being totally honest, the girls they have deciding on what they would like to purchase, ummm (throat clearing) look terrible handling their own personal style. That is just the nicest way I can put it.
And for real for real lastly for the love of God at ANY consignment store, stop saying one reasoning for passing as described as “OVERLY LOVED!” Chaos me. Hope this helped
Signed,
I’ll find a new Mentor
I dropped off approx. 50 items to sell...all of them Anthro, Banana Republic & Lucky Brand. Most were brand new with tags, some only worn once...excellent condition, very tasteful. I dropped off...they were very pleasant, said they'd text me when ready. I checked out the racks before I left too...and was surprised to see lesser quality/outdated items...so I was hopeful for a good offer. Their website says they price items at 1/3 of their value, offer you 1/3 of that. I was expecting to sell most of my items for $8-$10 each (and that was a sacrifice :). I went back today, and the offer was $68...for 25 items! I asked for a breakdown - they handed me a slip with all the items they accepted - and no prices next to them. I quickly did the math...it averaged out to $2.72 per item! I declined the offer, and brought everything back home. I just added up the original price tags: $2389. A third of that is $796. 1/3 of that is $265. Insulting. I will sell on Poshmark or donate to a Women's Career network.
Attn: Anyone considering offering higher quality items, authentic name-designer clothes & accessories, to Clothes Mentor... think again & don't waste your time. They low-ball the value even on new/w/tag, unused or lightly used items (i.e., Dooney bags, Ralph Lauren blazers) then literally offer pennies on the dollar. Essentially they're looking for "donations". Try an online service like "Revolve" or "Linda's". For shoppers...you'll get far better prices, for similar or better items than CMentor, at Goodwill, Salvation Army or Vincent De Paul thrift stores. Promise!

Review: I purchased perfume on 3/4/15. It won't spray, so I tried to return it on 3/12/15. They refused to refund the money back onto my card, stating it was their policy that the non-apparel items are not returnable. This policy shouldn't apply to my situation since they had sold it to me as defected. The store manager only wanted to offer a store credit. I want my money back, I don't want to buy any other defective items from them especially knowing they don't take care of their customers.Desired Settlement: I want my money back, I don't want a store credit.

Revdex.com spoke with the business. the store's policy is that unless it is apparel items are not refundable as they are a resale store. The business did offer store credit for the item because it did not work but that cannot the items that come into their store. Their store policy is written on the receipts.
