Over the past five years I have lived in areas supplied by four different electrical companiesDayton power and light is by far the worstThe customer service is terrible, it have requested to be put on automatic bill payment three times and it has still not gone throughDue to issues with the auto pay set up my electric has been turned off four times and when they do it they show up in the middle of the day, when everyone is at work, and don't even bother to callYou get no notice! We are currently trying to find a way to get our electric through a different company
They charged my wife and I $for our deposit We payed over the phone and they withdrew $1,which over-drafted our checking account They gave us no help when we called to fix the problem They basically told us that it was up to our bank to fix it Our bank charged us a fee to fix the problem and luckily we had a saving account that could cover their mistake We were never compensated for our bank fee even though we sent in information they required us to send in

Just terrible - I had trouble using their payment system - it kept taking me to an old account that showed my account (for the same home - because I rented out for 2 years) was paid in full when I hit the login on my Ebill statement. Because of this error - that only happened twice actually - they required a significant deposit. I have never had my utilities shut off, asked for extended payments and when I got the past due notice I paid it right away. They should have inquired, sent a letter or done something to verify the problem prior to imposing that deposit to punish me. I do not recommend DP&L to ANYONE - any company that treats a customer with such disrespect doesn't deserve anyone's business. when I called customer service - I felt scolded, it was implied it is clearly it was ALL my fault. It was an honest error in part Dp&L's fault because of the old account.. That old account should not have even appeared - it was paid in full at the time of the disconnect. .
