The business listed a property for rent online Craigslist.com, a room mate and I applied for the house on Monday 10/14. By Friday 10/18 we had not heard any news on approval or denial, so I emailed to voice my concern. The "leasing agent" replied to tell me they are still collecting applications for the property and can not give a time frame on the approval. Wednesday 10/23 still no update, so I call to check and leave a voicemail. 10/24 I receive an email telling me they are continuing to accept applications for the property and can not tell me a time frame for mine to be processed for approval or denial. I have never waited more than 2-3 days at most to hear back from a rental company. They charged $65 per application, plus $20 for a separate pet application. They requested email and phone number for landlords of the last 3 years, yet have not contacted any of them. They also requested professional references, and have no contacted any of those contacts either. They continue to relist the property online as being available for rent. My room mate and I provided more than the normal required documents for proof of income, and they even requested bank statements on top of the letter from employers to verify income and the typical paystubs.
I want my application fees refunded and I want them to stop reposting this property as being available for rent. I paid $130 for two applications and they also charged $20 for a pet application. They have continued to post and repost this house and bring available for rent.
I was looking at houses so that my wife and I could move in as we are going to have a family in march and I came across a house addressed ***. The ad had pictures and a *** video showcasing the house for rent. Thinking that this wasn't going to last long I applied for the house and had scheduled an appointment to look at it an hour later. The ad claims that the wood floors were recently refinished but what I saw was not a refinished floor. it looks like they just applied a coating of stain on the floor as the was A LOT of mold growing in the bedroom of the house. The *** video also was a completely different house. Mark B who "runs the show" listed on the ad that unit *** was identical to *** which was in the video but there was nothing similar at all. The video also claims that newer appliances are in the house and the appliances were NOT NEW by any means. Mark B himself claims that the floors have no issues with them and they were refinished a year ago. To me the word "recently" does not mean a year ago. I asked him if I could have my money back from the application and he said no because there is no refunds and thats there policy. His policy however doesn't state that if the ad isn't true I can't get a refund. I feel like I just got SCAMMED for 65 dollars. Had the ad been more PRECISE and ACCURATE I would of NEVER applied for this house.
