Review: Admittance to this facility required a $35,000 payment up front. The forms were filled out & charges split between 3 credit cards based on the credit limit of each card. On Sept. 2, 2013 I sent an email correcting the amount to be charged because I had neglected to change the amount on the form I submitted for a different credit card. I have documents to back this up & a response confirming the amount charged would be $35,000. These communications occured BEFORE my husband was admitted. On Sept. 7, 2013 my [redacted] card was declined when I purchased gas. I called [redacted] as soon as I returned home & was told an additional $10,000 had been charged by Clarity Way. I informed [redacted] that Clarity Way was only authorized to charge $10,000. I then contacted Clarity Way & spoke with [redacted]. She said I needed to speak with [redacted] on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. I contacted [redacted] on Sept. 9, 2013 & explained to her the situation & asked her to put the $10,000 credit back onto the [redacted] card. She said she didn't know if she could do that, she needed to talk with [redacted] & that she would call me back today or tomorrow, 9/10/13. I said to [redacted] "I can barely breathe, I'm so upset". I also told her that this charge took us over our credit limit & that we couldn't afford a room upgrade & that my husband had no idea what his stay was costing. I should also mention that my husband was being treated for alcohol dependency & suffered from short-term memory loss due to a head injury which the facility knew about upon admittance. [redacted] never called me back--no one from Clarity Way ever contacted me about this. I also have a Clarity Way document that states that credit cards "are to be turned over to a staff member and put in the safe upon intake and will be returned upon discharge". Obviously this did not happen, because they allowed a brain-damaged alcoholic to charge $10,000 without contacting me, his wife. I am disappointed in how this was handled & undue stress was added to an already stressful situation.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the $10,000 charge for the room upgrade, which was not authorized by me, the financially responsible person for my husband's stay. The patient should have never been given the opportunity to make a $10,000 charge without first speaking to me.
