Review: On April 17, 2013, I brought my car to Clarence Brown Alignment Services for an alignment. I am not satisfied with the services rendered because:
(1) The boot on the driver side of the steering gear was severely twisted by the alignment procedure. The steering gear was purchased and installed elsewhere in April 2013, shortly before the alignment performed by Clarence Brown. I noticed that the steering gear was leaking on July 19, 2013. I then brought the car to a neutral third party mechanic, not the one that did the installation in April. According to the third party mechanic, this boot becomes twisted during the alignment process: During toe adjustment, the inner tie rods on the rack and pinion are turned. If the boot clamps are not loosened, the tie rods are not able to turn freely inside the boots and the boots will become twisted. Once twisted, they no longer move freely, and tear. On my vehicle, the driver side boot was twisted and torn, and only the seal on that side started to leak.
(2) On the Clarence Brown Invoice, it indicates the tires were inflated to 40 psi. The panel inside the car door indicates the inflation should be 26 psi. My tires have green valve caps, which indicate that the tires are inflated with Nitrogren, not plain air. Clarence Brown added an excessive amount of air, thus I had to go to another facility to have the tires emptied and re-filled with Nitrogen to the proper inflation.Desired Settlement: Refund $95.90, which was the amount charged for the services.
