Defective Hydrazzo
I began building my pool in September 2017, I purchased Hydrazzo as the material to be used as the pool finish. I was told it was the easiest material to maintain in that iit as a weekly upkeep and f there were any blemishes or problems it could be buffed out. From the beginning we had problems with it. With the kind of Hydrazzo I bought, it maintained a high PH and Calcium level. In order to maintain the Hydrazzo at their "recommended chemistry levels" I had to pour in acid every day and empty my pool 14-18" every month, sometimes twice a month. When I called and spoke to the rep Kali she assured me that the Hydrazzo was to be maintained weekly as any other material and she would come and inspect it. When she came out the two times the PH was high and so was the Calcium. NO Duh, she claimed it was the chemistry and recommended a Jax treatment. We did the treatment and we still had white blemishes and more white sporting all over the pool. Then she claimed the white spots were part of the aggregate, which continued to pop up weekly. We were having puddles of white dust in the spa daily, which she blamed on a build up from the salt cell , which was clean. We also kept feeling the material roughed up every week as if it were getting eaten away. It wasn't until the builder asked us to purchase an intellecham machine and to turn off the salt cell that we started noticing a difference in the pool. The PH stays up unless you pour in acid 3 times a week, which goes again CLI's standard care, and now I can't use the pool because my son is allergic to chlorine which is why I bought the salt cell so we could control the levels. Kali has been unsymapthetic and unwilling to buff out the spots. They blame the chemistry even though she knows darn well, I have broken my back keeping them at levels they claim are normal, but against every other pool vendor out there. They have done this to other people and now the builder that installed my pool is getting the run around from them as well as he deals with other situations with the same material from CLI.
We would like them to cover the cost of polishing the pool to see if it will remove the white spots and blotching as they so claimed their product reliability. They also have a machine that will allow it to be polished without draining the pool that I would like them to use so we don't have to drain the pool.
On June 4th, 2018, our representative Kali T visited Mrs. property for the first time. Mrs. indicated that there was scale and white spots in her pool. When Kali arrived at her property, Mrs. showed her where the white spots were on her pool finish. Kali told her that she believed the white Mrs *** was seeing were aggregate exposing itself, as the white spots started appearing within the first year of application. To be sure, I brought a sample of my Hydrazzo Classico Azure and showed Mrs. that there was white aggregate in the Hydrazzo Classico Azure that was installed in her pool. Next, she pointed out some spots (maybe 3) of, what appeared to be metal staining. Kali was unable to reach it with Jack's Magic #1 to positively identify the stain, so she scheduled a diver for later in the month to find out what the spots were. Lastly, Mrs. pointed out an area of discoloration in the shallow end, opposite wall of the stairs. It was not pronounced, as the contractor, Superior Pools, had done some treatments. Kali recommended to the contractor, Superior Pools, that a light polishing of the area should take care of situation. Kali also gave Mrs. a copy of our warr***y and went over each water chemistry parmater cited in our warr***y and explained and why we recommend those levels.
On June 22nd, Kali returned to Mrs ***'s residence with a diver. He dove the pool a removed 2-3 small metal contamin***s of unknown origin. Kali checked Mrs. water chemical levels with a Waterlink Spintouch lab tester(results attached) and explained to her what adjustments needed to be made to adjust her water chemistry within industry standards.
On August 17th, 2018, Kali was scheduled to meet Superior Pools and Mrs. at her home to discuss what the scale in the shallow end of the pool was and why it would would not come up. By this time, Mrs. had invested in a ORP/pH feeder that would assist in maintaining the water chemistry within industry accepted standards. Mrs. expressed her concerns with the pool finish with Kali as Kali attempted to explain the industry accepted Langlier Saturation index for maintaining the water chemistry in a swimming pool such that the water is not in a scaling or etching state, but Mrs. was not accepting of Kali's explanation. In Kali's opinion, the environment became hostile when she explained to Mrs. that scale on the surface of our finish is not covered under our warr***y guidelines, so Kali exited the property.
As of Friday, September 14, 2018, Superior Pools had contacted Kali inquiring about the products Scaletec and Beautec. Kali obtained the information from Will Bonds, Easy Care's sales rep, and told Superior Pools the process. Kali was under the impression that Superior Pools was still attempting to resolve Mrs. issue.
Kali/C.L. Industries still recommends polishing the area to remove the scale as this is surface scale that developed due to water chemistry maintained on the scaling side of the Langalier Saturation Index. It is topical scale, not a material defect. The scale should be removed as soon as possible to avoid damage to the pool's finish.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the response from the business because they are not standing by the conversation that I had with their representative on May 30, 2018. In that conversation she stated that the Hydrazzo material was to be maintained "the exact way as a Pebble Tek and other Industry standard pools". She mentioned that if there was an issue down the road, instead of draining the pool and treating it with an acid wash, it could could be polished away. She claimed the Hydrazzo was to be serviced just as any other pool would be, which is once a week. We have had to treat it almost everyday to keep the PH and Calcium levels under control. She also claimed "spot etching" was very common in Florida and the benefit of Hydrazzo was to polish the material instead of treating it with chemicals. Later she told me it was part of the aggregate and that polishing would not remove the white spots.
Her company keeps complaining that the defects aree due to the chemical imbalance instead of the material. What they fail to mention is the material appears to be having a chemical reaction between the Hydrazzo material and the salt water. After we removed the salt cell, and converted it to chlorine, we have not had the severe spikes in the PH and Calcium since changing over. We also haven't had the scale looking stains continue to occur; however, we continue to have more white spots pop up weekly.
Since changing the pool to a chlorine pool, we have been able to
remove the ORP and maintain the chemicals only 2 times per week. Unfortunately, my son is allergic to chlorine, which I told Kali and now he can not swim in it.
This is clearly a material defect. She never mentioned Hydrazzo could not be used with other pools and I specifically told her I was aware of other pools that have their product in that are salt water pools that were having similar issues. She never said anything against having Hydrazzo with salt water pools.
Lastly, she stated scale was hard to keep under control in the Florida environment, no matter how hard the homeowner worked to keep it under control. Clearly, this is something they see a lot with this product and they use it as a way of getting out of treating the problem.
I feel they should work with my pool builder and provide them with the machine she mentioned to polish the pool and see if it indeed gets rid of the marks. My pool builder is willing to provide the labor if they provide the machine. If they stand by their product and it's "ease of removing stains" they should follow through with what their sales associate stated.

Once again, I cannot access the response that was sent. Can they put it in a word document?
Product has been an issue since it was originally applied
three years ago a Salty Dog pool company did work for us which consist of apply Krystalrete to the interior of our pool. The day it was applied no water in the pool we notice major white streaks in the blue finish and we had been told they would monitor it. within several months we made another complaint because now it had spread through out the pool. Color looks terrible again no response. Recently we contacted the pool company along with C.L Industries and supposedly a representative by the name Kali T came on my property without my approval and supposedly did water testing. Not even realizing I have a salt water system they blamed the chlorine in the pool and all the chemicals that caused the lightening in the blue krystalkrete finish. kali was never available and was rude and non responsive every time I tried to contact her. She was useless and did nothing to coordinate any effort of support. I had been told that most of the people that Salty dog pool co applied the Krystalkrete blue to had the same issues. I would like to see about getting money back or having the job redone. At this point being that Kali was so rude and non supportive in any way I am not willing to pay anything additional.
I am looking for them to repair the damage to the surface that is extremely obvious and if they cannot then I would look for eimbursment of monies I paid for this process to be done. The process as stated earlier failed within the day it was applied and continues to get worse.
We cannot speak to the appearance of the homeowner's pool finish finish 3 years ago as our representative was not present at the site until 2018. Our representative did visit the pool in question on two occasions with the complainant's contractor. Once on April 5, 2018 and again on April 19th, 2018. On the April 5th visit, our representative explained to both of the homeowners that the reason the pool did not exhibit its original blue color was due to the presence of scale on top of the surface and not in our product (topical scale). On the April 19th visit, our representative tested the homeowners pool water and confirmed that the water chemistry was in a scaling condition based on the Industry accepted Langalier Saturation index. The testing our representative did was specific to a salt chlorinated pool as was demonstrated by the high salt value obtained of 4711, as well as chlorine levels as high as 10 pp (see attched Mazur.jpg). In addition, during this second visit, our representative was able to remove the scale from a test spot on the finish surface utilizing Jack's Magic #2 Copper and Scale Remover, revealing the finishes' original appearance (see Mazur 2.jpg attached).
The scale on the homeowner's pool finish can easily be topically treated by their pool service company. Based on our inspection and testing of the pool finish, the product is in no way defective. It is simply covered by scale.

First I was told by the unprofessiona sales rep that it was my salt water system that caused it. Then when I finally got her to answer my calls I told her we had just installed the salt water system. Then the story changed again. Still would like evidence if all the complaints from all customers who have the same issue. So the product does not indicate any place that as soon as applied with it without water it will start to loose it color and effect. I would not recommend this product and will make it noted that the company will not stand behind their warrant but will instead find the easiest way out and give the simple no brained excuse it is the chemicals. Would like to pursue if not full coverage to have the process done to correct it at minimum partial coverage would be acceptable. Attached is photos from original application and you can clearly see the uneven discoloration.
