Sold me a car with a fraudulent title and still managed to jack up the price according to KBB. I was desperate and needed a vehicle but my insufficient credit due to student loans didn't give me a whole lot of options. I decided to buy my car here because they would finance me. My credit is in the process of being restored now but I would never consider going to any other BUY HERE PAY HERE lots again. Horrible experience.
I purchased a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS. The vehicle I purchased seemed fine on the test drive. The dealer took it to their mechanic to work on the AC. I went to retrieve the vehicle only to find oil all over the engine bay. I take it back to the dealer. They keep the car for a couple days then inform me that the engine is bad. The dealer agrees to replace the engine, only to tell me a few days later that the engine they purchased is also bad. The dealer then tells me they are going to take the good parts from each engine and put them together. I pick the car up a week later from their mechanic. The mechanic tells me that along with an engine he also replaced the clutch and flywheel, the supercharger, the supercharger pulley, and did a base tune on the vehicle. He also informed me that the clutch pedal was sticking but it wasn't anything to be concerned with. He assured me that he drove the car and it was safe to drive. On my way home from work that same night the clutch went out. I called their mechanic directly who said he couldn't find a tow truck(on a Saturday)and informed me it sounded like the slave cylinder. I got the car towed back to the mechanics shop. I talked to him a few times over the next few days and he was sure it was the slave cylinder. I couldn't get a hold of him for 3 days so I showed up at his shop. I talked to him and found out that not only had he had my car for almost a week and knew what was wrong but he hadn't ordered the part yet. I dont feel I should be responsible for the cost of the repair considering I hadn't put 50 miles on the vehicle since I had bought it. I go back to the dealer and they say they can't do anything, so I call the finance company. Over the next week myself, the finance company, and the dealer have many conversations. Eventually the car get fixed. When I go to pick the car up I'm told by the dealer I have to make my first months payment early or they are going to put a mechanics lein on my car and I will not get it back. I refuse and again call my finance company. They call the dealer and sort it out. I finally get to pick my car up. It has now been 3 weeks since I purchased the vehicle. Everything seems to be good. I drive a few miles down the street and the car completely shuts down on me. I get it towed to my mechanic this time and have them do a full diagnosis of the vehicle. They tell me that the fuse box isn't bolted down under the hood. My driver side lower ball joint is not seated. Passenger side sway bar link is missing. Radiator and supercharger cooler are smashed. I have transmission fluid in my coolant. A bell housing bolt is only hand tight and the transmission mount bolt is hand tight. I went up there and got a video of everything.
