I hired CLC to come out and do some swales and drains in my yard to get water away from the foundation of my house. They came out in 2016 the first time and did 2 swales and buried 2 downspouts to help with the water issue. Then shortly after that I started having similar issues, so I paid them again to come out and install a french drain this time. After they completed the work they said this would take care of issues and prevent the water from pooling on my foundation. I paid them around $2500 for this work. After the 1st time they came out water would pool in the swales, but I didn't say anything because at least the water wasn't against the foundation. Over the past couple of years I have began to have the same exact problems again. So I contacted them on their website form the week before Thanksgiving in 2018. I waited several weeks without getting a response so I called them on 12/19/18 and 12/28/19 and left a message about wanting someone to come out and look at my yard again and see what they would be willing to do to fix it. They called back on 1/3/19 and said they would talk to the contractor and set something up. I waited several more weeks and on 1/15/19 the receptionist said she thought the contractor was going to call me and set it up, and he thought she was going to set it up. They finally sent someone out on 1/23/19 and said he understood my complaints and would be upset himself if this had happened to him. He told me that he would get back to the office and get back to me within 2 days about what they could do. I heard nothing back so I called on 2/18/19 and told them I was supposed to hear something back several weeks ago and I didn't. She gave me some excuse that he must have forgot since he was getting ready for a home show. I have never heard anything else from them since then.
This is from a drainage issue project that was in June of 2016, her first contact was in November of 2018. The drains must have been working up until this point and now 2.5 years later they are not working like they should be? The true issue in this lies with the amount of erosion on this property from ever growing trees directly to the right of the house. These trees are Leland cypress trees that grow very rapidly, as they grow they block out the sunlight from getting underneath them. These trees have probably grown 2 feet or so wider than what they were when we were there. Which is allowing the grass to die out and any water that runs down the hill from the neighbors property is now eroding soil down onto this property. This is a very flat lot, hence the reason we were there to install drainage, so the smallest amount of erosion will mess up the flow of water on such a flat lot. I did go out and meet with her, I was suppose to get back with her and I forgot. I accept fault for that, the reason is not important as I did not get back to her. I did go back down in the rain one of the days immediately after our meeting to see what the case was. That is when I noticed how much water and soil were running down under the trees between the houses. At this point there are really two options to this, cut the trees down and plant grass on the hill side to stop the erosion. Or mulch the area under the trees to stop the erosion. Both of which would still require us to regrade the side yard and remove the eroded soil to help get the water back to the drain that was working originally. I don't feel that we did anything incorrect in our install, but the environment around it has changed over the past 2.5/3 years. Thank you, Chris Templeton CLC Inc - President
