Horrible customer service /or crooks. I traveled 950 miles from Florida to purchase a truck from them because it was equipped the way I wanted it and in my price range. Got there, looked over the truck, drove it on roads around the dealership area. No issues, ran fine, no check engine. As soon as I presented them a check and left, I started to get on the freeway and entered the on ramp the truck started audible warnings and blinking check engine light. I called them immediately. The "Lead Service tech" tried to tell me it was because of 87 octane gas. ( Bull) After that, the condition stopped so I drove about 150 more miles and gave them the benefit of the doubt. When I stopped for a break and started truck again, it set the code and stayed on, continued to run rough off and on. I found an o'reilly auto and had the code checked. Misfire Cylinder 5. Could be a $36 coil pack, so I changed it. No big deal. NO change in the operation of the vehicle. All the while I was texting and calling the salesman. Lead tech called again, blew me off, said change more coil packs. Stopped 300 miles away and called again. Salesman told me to wait in hotel room all weekend until Monday morning and drive back. I asked for a courtesy call from a manager even if it was only 5 minutes, no call, nothing. If I stayed in Hotel all weekend and drove the 4.5 miles back I would lose $600 in expenses coming to buy the vehicle they represented to be 'mechanic inspected and free of any defects' as well as another Two nights in a hotel cost, loss of work in my business in florida, and a last minute same day $800 plane ticket from Chicago to Tallahassee Florida. So, they wanted me to 4 days of my life, give the truck back that they misrepresented, and lose a total of about $2000 plus lost work. Turns out at this time the issue is very likely major problem with a stuck lifter roller eating up the cam. I found Many videos of same issue available online when I was doing research stuck in a motel room waiting. Changed coil pack, changed spark plugs. Reported symptoms are that affected vehicles drive fine under 50 mph around town, under no loads like when I test drove it, but when you accelerate hard to enter freeway, or go up hills it misfires. It's a $4-5K repair at the dealer. I am quite sure the codes were cleared on this vehicle prior to my purchasing it. I recreated my situation on video by resetting the code and driving easily around town without issue, no code was set, no blinking check engine, ran smooth. I then recorded entering an on ramp and accelerating hard to enter traffic and the situation occurred just as I described. I asked dealer to fix or place extended warranty. They agreed to warranty but when I read the fine print and checked reviews, there were many loopholes, bad reviews, 60 days before I received coverage and was highly likely they would try to not pay on a technicality. Dealer wants me to drive 15 hours again and bring it back. I have no guarantee they will pay us back if I get there. They have said they will not financially assist me in getting home again so I am out a total of roughly $2000 and will have no truck if I return it. My final offer to them was instead of paying $1200 for their extended warranty, they can send a transport to pick up the truck and only pay the transport company $1000. They refuse to do that. Illinois law requires an implied warranty on the vehicle for 15 days or a 500 mile warranty. Law requires that specific verbiage stating this be placed on their As-Is paperwork , but the specific verbiage isn't there. It's an Illinois law, specific to that state, and does not exist in Florida. Had I seen that verbiage on the paperwork, I would have known that I could return the vehicle immediately, but everything they had us sign had "As-Is, no warranty expressed or implied" You cannot ignore a state law that says there is an implied warranty, and say that no implied warranty exists.
I bought my car over a week ago from this dealership. An oil light came on after completing paperwork. They said it was the oil sensors. I had to bring the car back five minutes after leaving the dealership. The engine light had come on. They said to bring it back and they will fix it. An hour after, they stated they fixed them. They just turned the lights off. I had it inspected and there were significant repairs needed on the vehicle, even though I was assured by the sales staff and fake printed reports that the car was in good condition. I've had many promises that it will be done the next day and it is still not done. In one day I have been told 5PM, then 7PM, then 10AM the next morning. I was originally told it was a 15 hr fix. They are quick to take my money, but slow in getting me the car. By law, I have until the 15th day to return it. I'm thinking I will at this point.
Honestly if I could give them no stars I would. I called and spoke to someone different each time, the receptionists are rude. I get to the dealership if you can even call it that and the music is so loud it's like I was in a nightclub. Forget about finding parking because the lot is stuffed one small lane to go in and out. Seriously over priced and delusional on the worth of their vehicles, I can honestly say this is the worst car shopping experience I have ever had. What a joke, I drove straight to carmax after I left picked out a car had it transferred in and was driving it off the lot the next day. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!
I purchased a car under the condition that the lines of a leakage would be fixed. The salesman Karim knew about it and told me that if they would fix it would I buy the car I agree. I told them before I signed on the purchased the car about the leakage a guy name Bernee saw it. They gave me an I Owe you that expires in 30 days. The car was purchased on 03/10/18. They told me to make an appointment. The guy Brandon stated they did not have any available dates but I would be called on Monday 03/12/18. They never called me I called Thursday they told me it would take 3 weeks before they could give me an appointment. I called to speak to someone in the office to complain they transfer me back to Brandon at the service center. Who stated to call him on Monday the 19th at 10 and he could scheduled me in for Thursday. I called Monday the 19th told me they would call me back they never did. I called them again and they told me that they did not owe me anything and that there was nothing wrong with car and they would not fix me anything despite the fact that there is an I Owe you. Signed and written by them. They would not even give me an appointment to inspect the vehicle and show me there is nothing wrong with it. Despite that there salesman Karim there mechanic Bernee saw it.
Customer brought the vehicle to service. Chicago Auto Place repaired the vehicle for customer at no cost to customer. Customer is satisfied.
I purchased a ‘99 *** 88 from Chicago Auto Place on January 27, 2018. According to the salesman, Will, Chicago Auto place is required to register my vehicle; allowing me to register the vehicle myself was not an option they allowed. They built $695 into the loan so they could register it in my name. They advised that if there was an overpayment (meaning if the registration fee is less than $695) the excess will be applied back to the loan.
They had me sign blank power of attorney forms. When questioned why I would sign a form that was blank, the financial lady assisting in the loan stated that since there was no notary present they could not fill in the form until Monday when a notary was present. I was told I would get a copy of the form; but when I got home I see that it wasn’t included in my packet.
To date, there is no evidence that they ever registered my vehicle. I have been to the DMV 3 times, They have checked the system for the entire state of Iowa and are not in receipt of the registration request. Additionally, I have contacted Chicago Auto Place on multiple occasions. Each time they say it’s in process. Friday February 23, 2018, I insisted on proof that they registered the vehicle and stated that the DMV confirmed they are not in receipt of the registration request. The financial representative (who was a female) said she spoke to the title company they hired to transfer the title and they would not give her any information except that they sent it. Supposedly they would not confirm where or when they sent it stating it was confidential. I asked for the phone number of the title company but she refused, said it was confidential and basically told me not to call again regarding this matter.
They took my $695 and did not register my vehicle. Wednesday February 28, 2018 is when the temporary registration expires. They were and are responsible for registering it. I am asking that they give me my money back or register it immediately.
The Plates for Mr. have been mailed out from DMV and are out for delivery to customer. Tracking number provided by DMV using *** is ***.
Buyer beware! The Revdex.com gives Chicago Auto Place a straight up F! When I first found the car I purchased from Chicago Auto Place on their site, it looked VERY clean and in wonderful shape. I was wrong. As it turns out, the pix must have been taken right after it came in and was detailed. By the time I looked at it in person, the interior was dirty, the carpets had stains, and the engine was COVERED in dirt, apparently due to road construction. I drove 3 hours to pick up the car, and they couldn't bother cleaning it? Not the real problem, the real issue was the LOT ROT! As it turns out, the car was on their lot for at least a year and a half and began to rust. I found pix on CAP's site of the car dating that far back! I was unaware of this until after. After the purchase, I took it to an award winning and very reputable dealership in my city for a thorough once over. I was told the car had lot rot (rust) from sitting for a couple of years, the brakes and rotors were rusted, the oil pan WILL rust out in a year or 2 and should be replaced, the vehicle missed 2 of it's last *** scheduled/required services, passenger side window does not operate, the headlamp was cracked, secured by a single screw and had to be replaced, etc. I missed so much because it was raining and the car was outside. I know, my fault, I should have known even though I asked the salesperson and the manager if there was anything wrong. They both said, "Not to my knowledge." Needless to say, I spent $2800 in repairs the FIRST WEEK I OWNED IT! And that was just to get it up to where it should have been at the time of purchase. The window still does not work. That's next. I called Chicago Auto Place about it before the work was done to ask if they would split the bill, and after being on hold for 20 MINUTES, I was told the person I needed to speak with was busy, but he would most certainly call me the next day. NOPE! NO CALL. The car was already almost $2k above market value, but it was the only one within 300 miles, so I paid extra, and I still am. I just replaced the heater/ac blower motor for $350 and it's only been 4 months since the purchase. I would ABSOLUTELY tell anyone and everyone to avoid CHICAGO AUTO PLACE!!! They sell any and all types of cars, so they are obviously a master of none. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! My sale person was pretty cool, for what that's worth. OVER THE WEEKEND UPDATE! I have a fluid leak now that will cost $1700 to repair. The engine or transmission must be removed to fix. $1700 and the computer thinks the tailgate continuously opens, but it's not. $360 to fix that. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Was sold salvaged title car that cant be registered, wont refund my money and was threatened to get by behind kicked outback.
they are liars, selling salvage titled vehicles as "clean" avoid at all costs!
This business will sell you a car under the pretense its a clean title. Later you will learn it is a salvage title. If you go back you will get threatened to get taken around the back.... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.. If I could give a 0 star I would.
They sell illegal cars with salvage titles
My wife and I had the worst experience. We went there to buy a white *** X3 2014 and turned out the car had issues which im sure it is still there. Check engine light went on for the all wheel drive and also for a radiator issue. The sales girl said that they will take care of it and they took it to the back so the mechanic can look at it and all he did was just turned off the check engine light. Literally. Then the same girl tells us that in order to proceed we needed to put a down payment to proceed with the contract process. Justyna *** did the contract and said that the company that was giving the loan wouldnt accept the loan unless we got a Warranty for the engine and transmission (which I found out through illinois attorney general *** website under the section of consumer guide that this was a complete lie she basically lied about that in order to rack up her commission) everyone should look at this link because im very sure they did many of the things on there to the people on here that gave their bad reviews. They are very polite but 2 faced as they only want you to sign your name on the contract after that the car is yours with issues and everything that comes with it. So we basically didnt end up with a car loan and Justyna *** held our deposit until we made a claim on them on this site (illinois attorney general dot gov) and by doing so after 2 months they had to pay us the money back. Justynas last words when we were leaving the dealer was "get your lawyer to talk to my lawyer, oh and expect a receipt". Horrible people. Please be careful what you sign with these people they really just want your money nothing about your interest or even "take care of you"
November 26, 2016 I went to look for a car at the Chicago auto place. I decided to buy a ***. The manager used a pressure technique on me
and I was compelled to leave a $5,000 deposit using my debit card. I needed time to think it over and after one week called and said I decided to opt out. I was told to either buy a car or forfeit my deposit. I have visited dealership on several occasions since but was repeatedly turned down for refund
Customer can apply the deposit in purchasing another vehicle from Chicago Auto Place.
Worst car dealership I ever dealt with. Bought a *** over 6 weeks ago. Still have not received plates and temp registration has expired. Called and told it would be sent right away and still nothing. After getting car Home noticed s rattle in engine. Took it to *** and told both the timing chain and the supercharger are bad and need replacing. Minimum cost is $7000. Total rip off and every time you call your told the person is at lunch or off for the day
