car. At that time [redacted] asked that we just install 4 new spark plugs and replace the fuel filter, which was completed. The car still ran poorly. I then suggested to [redacted] that we perform a compression test to which [redacted] agreed to. The compression test showed low compression on ALL cylinders which established the reason for the poor running condition and power loss. After speaking to [redacted] further he informed me that he had bought the car from a relative, stepson's Grandfather if I remember correctly. [redacted] stated that the relative was a long time mechanic and felt that this person should have known the condition of the car, During this conversation he asked me to simply replace a squeaking belt that was annoying his wife and he would try and trade the car for something a little more dependable for his son. Upon examining the belt problem, we found that the reason for the noisy belt was because the water pump pulley was out of alignment, (bad water pump). Replacing the belt would have been money wasted. I opted not to install a new belt in the customer's best interest late on a Friday afternoon and planned to discuss this with him the following Monday morning. The highlighted remarks in the complaint letter were never made by me or any of my employee's; we do not talk to our customers like that. I feel that this car was misrepresented by the former owner and [redacted] was somewhat disgruntled. I have been in business for 40 years and ask that you examine my history with the Revdex.com. I do not think that compensation is due from me or from Chestnut Street Service Center. Please feel free to contact me if necessary.
