Charlotte Plumbing would not honor my service warranty (6 yrs) for a hot water heater that they installed 4 years ago.
My house is 4 yrs old, built my DRHorton. Charlotte Plumbing installed the hot water heater that has a warranty for 6 years. On 4/23/19 I had no hot water and called a local plumber. He examined and told me it was the thermostat and that I should call Charlotte Plumbing because it was under warranty. I called and they REFUSED to come to Venice or service my problem. They no longer provide service to this locale or to Horton built homes. I explained that I had no hot water, couldn't shower, wash dishes, clothes, etc. I also have my elderly mother in my home. The lady was rude, didn't offer another company who took over their warranty work and told me I would have to pay and call someone else. I asked why didn't they honor their warranty, she put me on hold and said someone might be able to come 1 week from the day. I am supposed to go 8 days without hot water? I was so disappointed in their service. She didn't care. I thought they had a good reputation years ago. Not sure what happened. Maybe new owners. But I called the diagnostic company back and they returned the next day to install a new upper and lower thermostat. Interestingly enough, Hill and Hill who did the work, doesn't service AOSmith water heaters. Yet they made the effort to order the part overnight and come back the next day to install. Certainly more than my warranty company. The total bill was $300. I am requesting that since Charlotte Plumbing doesn't honor their warranty, that they reimburse me for the work done. Not sure what happened to contracts and violating warranties, but Charlotte Plumbing didn't care about this customer.
Monetary in the amount of $300 for the repair. I should charge for the stress, aggravation and worry they caused.

I am unsure who you spoke with in our office, but this is not how we do business. I am sorry you had a bad experience and I have addressed it with my office staff. The heater tank and parts are under warranty but the labor is not. Since we do not do work in your area, I have advised my staff to let customers know we would have to charge travel time and that any plumber can warranty your heater. Some customer still ask us to come, some chose to hire a plumber in their area.I am sorry that this information was not given to you.

Restitution hasn't been offered. Ms. T. admits the parts would be covered under my new home warranty. they may no longer service the Venice area, but THEY INSTALLED the HWH 4 years ago. Why do I get penalized because they choose to not service this area even tho they certainly serviced it when they installed it. She also says we don't do business this way. Well, they do and they continue to make it difficult. Another plumber would NOT honor Charlotte Plumbing warranty when there is a big sticker with Charlotte Plumbing info. Additionally, Charlotte Plumbing installed a AO Smith unit. I couldn't find a plumber who services that kind of unit. Charlotte Plumbing needed to come here and make the repair, honor their warranty OR hire another company to take over their warranty work. If they're an honorable business, they need to make it right.
Charlotte Plumbing's warranty is one year from the date the job was trimmed.
The hot water heater warranty is through the manufacturer, parts are under warranty through the manufacturer, the labor isn't.
Any plumber can replace the heater or parts.
My charge would've been $255 to include travel and the parts would have been sent to the manufacturer to be replaced under warranty.

If the parts are under warranty, why would the customer pay $255. Do I get reimbursed for parts that didn't last that Charlotte Plumbing installed? It's a sad situation that Linda T. doesn't run the business the way Jim did. This is not customer service. It's pathetic to take advantage of your senior clients. All you had to do was make it right. But, no. Lets drag this out and go on the local news so the community can see how unfair you are.
