I hired Certa Pro to paint the exterior of my home. Their customer service and paint work is unsatisfactory. The paint has peeled off several times.
Certa Pro East Orlando was hired by me around May 4, 2019 for exterior paint of my home in Winter Park. I was working with Megan *** and later in the project, the owner Steve was brought in to look at my house because I was not satisfied with the work done. I wanted my front porch and back porch hand washed because the house was under construction and the dry wall outside on the ceiling was not painted yet. Once the painting crew started painting, I noticed that they had painted over dirt and cob webs because they did not hand wash or pressure wash. The caulking was not done properly around the windows, there were cracks that were not filled in, paint was bubbling, it wasn't primed properly, the laxon was put on unevenly, there was dripping paint marks, paint peeling off in several areas of the house, they painted over screws instead of taking them out, and the list goes on. I addressed my concerns with Megan *** and then the owner Steve came out to see the job. He agreed that this was unsatisfactory work and had the same painting crew come out again. They had a crew come out two times all together to finish and fix the paint work. Unfortunately, they did a worse job the second time. Megan *** told me that the crew would not be working on my house anymore and they would send out a new crew. I was sending them emails with pictures of all the problems. On 6/14/19, I requested a breakdown of the charges they were charging me for. I did not feel that I should pay for pressure washing and hand washing when they obviously did not pressure wash or hand wash and painted over dirt. The owner Steve also said he saw that the paint crew painted over the cob webs and dirt. On June 14, 2019 Megan replied to my email and said "we are going to have to get with Steve about this." I sent them another email on June 25, 2019 asking them to please see my previous email that I sent on June 14, 2019. I did not hear from them for two months after June 25, 2019. On August 23, 2019 my daughter Mattia received a voicemail from Debbie stating that they finally freed up some painters to come to my house to fix the paint job. Over two months later, they freed up painters to come. That is unacceptable. The company never addressed my last email to work together to come up with a mutual agreement on the charges and to have a new crew come out. on September 25, 2019, I received a certified letter that the company would put a lien on my house if I did not pay them. I have not paid them anything at this time. They did not give me satisfactory work or by any means to my expectations as it states in their contract. In their contract under Certainty Pledge, it states, "On completion we'll schedule a walk through to make sure the job was done according to your expectations." There has been no communication with me on their end until I received a Notice to Owner in the mail to pay them or there will be a lien on my house. I am not satisfied with the paint job and the customer service of Certa Pro East Orlando.
I am seeking a resolution from Certa Pro East Orlando to not pay for services that were NOT AT ALL satisfactory. I will not be paying for pressure washing, handwashing, primer, caulking, and paint that is still peeling off of my home, etc. I also paid $100 to my lawn guy to remove the earth away from the house so they could paint as Certa Pro said they would not do so. Their horrible paint job caused me to hire a handyman to fix some of the paint. Some of the paint of which cannot be fixed now that Certa Pro did not paint it correctly, scrape, or prime correctly. I am now stuck with a horrible paint job and living with dirt and cob webs painted on my house. The only resolution for me is to strip the entire house and I cannot afford that.
We take a lot of pride in our work and, unfortunately, we're not sure how to satisfy this customer. Here is a high level breakdown:
-We received a signed contract from this customer on May 4th.
-Began the project on May 9th.
-The project was then put on hold on May 14th because the wrong vents came in that the customer ordered.
-We started the project again on May 16th and we completed a second pressure washing of the home (without charging for this) to ensure the home was free of dirt and debris.
-The project was completed on May 17th and on May 20th we received an email from the customer stating "House looks great".
-We followed up about the payment and received an email from the customer on May 29th stating they found issues.
-The owner of CertaPro of East Orlando came out (Steve) with our Production Associate (Debbie) and a *** representative to meet with the customer and walk the home. We found some minor issues (one cob web in the back corner that was painted over and some touch ups) as well as some issues unrelated to our paint job.
-Within a few days we had our team go back out and correct the issues.
-On June 14th we adjusted our bill to remove the hand washing since the customer said this was not done and we had no way to prove one way or another. When we brought the new invoice to the customer they now said there were new issues that were not previously noticed and refused to pay again.
-We agreed to send out our most experienced team to attempt to satisfy this customer.
-Unfortunately, that team was on a commercial project that was delay due to scope change and weather so we couldn't get them to this customer for over a month. This was a mistake we should have been able to avoid and we apologize for this.
-When we brought them to the home the customer told us they didn't want us to do anything and they fixed the issues themselves.
-The customer still refused to pay.
Please note, this home was built in 1965 and has been painted numerous times in the past 50 years. We removed all peeling, blistering, and flaking paint just as our contract said. But with older homes, it's common that some areas will come off inconsistently (as seen in the photo from the customer). This is not an issue with our painting project, it's related to the prior paint not holding onto the home. This was confirmed with the *** representative and communicated with the customer in detail.
We've completed over 700 painting projects in the past three years and, regrettably, we've had issues on some. We've always done what we can to resolve them as best as possible and, at times, we've made concessions and removed portions of our bill to satisfy a customer. However, the requests on this job were outrageous and we still haven't been paid anything to date. It's not fair that we are not paid for the job when we followed the contract signed by the customer. We had no choice other than to start the lien process.
We had some bad experiences with painters in the past and decided to use certapro this time. They were a little more expense but worth the additional costs. I'd recommend using them.
My wife and I were very impressed. A truly professional painting company.
The guys at CertaPro did a great job. Pool deck looks awesome. They were on time, professional and competitive on price. I'm need some other painting done at my place and will going back to CertaPro!
