Was in pain and needed a dentist *** refered me to Central Kentucky endodontics, PLLC. Once I got to the office they said I had to paid up front in order to be seen. On October 15, 2019 I paid 627.50 for a root canal and needed another. On October 17, 2019 I paid 529.90 for another root canal.
Now they want me to pay 224.26 more. This just for root canals not the crowns. I have to go back to my dentist to have the crowns put on
Product_Or_Service: Dental
Account_Number: Account#7150
Billing Adjustment I want them to adjust the bill because they told me I had to pay up front or they would not see me and I was in excuriating pain at the time. I just wanted it to quit. I am on a fixed income and can not paid any more
Central Kentucky Endodontics' policy is to collect the estimated patient out-of-pocket responsibility at time of service. This estimate is based on contracted dental insurance rates at time of service. Many factors affect what services insurances will compensate for, such as past patient usage, limits, and individual plan restrictions.
While we do check eligibility with insurance providers prior to treatment, a provider cannot understand every factor for each patient's specific insurance plan coverages. As such, we provide a pre-treatment estimate and every patient is given this information asked to read and sign our financial policy acknowledging this. When insurance companies do not pay, the payment responsibility, is ultimately the patient's responsibility as in this case. This was previously acknowledged and agreed to before services were rendered.
We have reached out to both the patient and to the insurance company to clarify eligibility and compensation. We have also had discussions with the patient and the insurance simultaneously. In this particular case, the insurance company has not compensated as much as estimated based on the specific plan's restrictions. Central Kentucky Endodontics strives for estimates to be accurate as possible, yet at times they can differ as a result of insurance restrictions and interpretations, divulged insurance information, and limitations at time of service. There are times that the insurance does not reveal limitations that affect the patient until post-treatment. When consulting insurance companies for an estimate, they claim that the information they provide is not a guarantee of payment. This is why we can only provide an "estimate" based on the information the insurance provides.
Central Kentucky Endodontics has followed its policy, obtained signed agreement of our financial policy from the patient, and contacted all party's post-treatment to clarify eligibility and responsibility.
