I’ve lived in my house since December of 2011. The previous owner had a central boiler unit installed in April of 2006. I loved the old unit. The only time I had issues is when I accidentally let the wood burn down. It burned a lot of wood but I still loved it. Now it’s 2022. My maintenance person, who is also the installer told me how much more efficient and less wood the new units were. My old unit was 16 years old now so decided to bite the bullet and get a new Central Boiler unit. I’ve had the new unit for 2 1/2 months now.
First, the fire on the new unit is constantly going out. My wood is all at least 1 year seasoned. It’s mostly oak but some poplar also. The unit has never ran out of wood, I keep the reaction chamber clean, and I clean around the air tube, yet the fire keeps going out. When the unit is burning, it seems to burn as much wood as the old unit, but the issue to me is the fire constantly going out. The fire on this unit is sucked down instead of burning up, so makes since to me the unit would have issues with the fire burning out.
I talked to the installer at first, he kept telling me it was my issue and I needed to learn what my unit wanted. I played all around with the settings… the temp deferential and the pause cycle. I made it better but nothing really works well.
I contacted Central Boiler twice but they just email the installer and ask him to contact me. Both times the installer just relied to them… “I don’t know what he’s doing”. Yet he has not come to look at anything and no more response from Central Boiler.
Only 2 months old and I hate my new unit and so wish I would have just kept my old unit. So disappointing and wish I could get my old unit back.
There are way better boilers out there. Do your homework. These units are not the best answer
Still waiting for it.
Our experience with Central Boilers has been terrible. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for your boiler.
