This complaint is in reference to the timing of the 401(k)
distribution processing and receipt of the resulting check for a separation of
service distribution. The participant
was originally emailed the 401(k) distribution form and instructions on
10/6/2014. The participant...
completed,
signed and faxed the 401(k) distribution form back to CBIZ on 12/29/2014. The participant was explained that
distributions are submitted for processing within 2-4 business days of
receipt. We believe the participant
misunderstood the timeline and anticipated the check to be mailed within 2 business
days of receipt, 12/31/14. The participant’s distribution was submitted for processing
on 1/5/2014 and the check was issued on 1/6/2015, within the timeframe detailed
on page 1 of the instructions sent to the client with the distribution
form. When the participant called to
check the status of her distribution, she was given the date the distribution
check was processed and the method in which it was sent. It was also explained to allow standard
timing for the mailing process (7-10 days) to receive the distribution
check. The standard process was followed
for the processing of the separation of service distribution. All timelines were kept within the standard
internal processes and procedures, as well as the timelines listed on the
participant instructions sheet sent with the distribution form.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
