not believe in false advertising!! I have attempted to contact the consumer directly, leaving voice messages, at least four different times, without success.
I would very much like to see the customers receipt so that I may refund the difference of what she believed she was being charged. Also, I am happy to open my books to her to verify the prices being charged during this period.
Upon receipt of this complaint I immediately checked to see what my gasoline prices were on 5/4/15. They were $3.999, $4.199 & $4.299. No where near the $3.319 indicated. I can only assume that this customer was the victim of a Castro Street prankster. These pranksters have been known to change the gas prices on the street price sign. The sign is low enough that on occasion the price numbers have been rearranged or just disappear. I can only assume that this is what occurred in this instance as at no time was gas being sold at $3.319.
I am in a heavily regulated industry where many agencies oversee my sales, cost and pricing on a regular basis. I could not, nor would I ever consider this mispricing. This is a family owned business and we have been selling gasoline on this corner since 1979. I would not still be in business if I operated in a dishonest manner.
Again, I apologize for this mishap and I am happy to refund the customers cost to insure her satisfaction. Please have her contact me directly at the number given for your internal purposes.
