Carpet Depot Reviews (21)

Review: Purchased carpet Sept. 26, 2013. Not satisfied with product (no defects and installation was done correctly) just wasn't satisfied with the product once installed in home. Oct. 4, 2013 returned to store location and spoke with my original sales rep, [redacted], to express my dissatisfaction. He said they could install a new carpet but that there would be a 10% restocking fee. The invoice total was $2,701.47 which was paid in full on Oct. 4, 2013. I confirmed with [redacted] that I would expect to pay around $270 additional in order to have the carpet removed and the new carpet installed. He confirmed that was correct. That same day, I selected a new carpet and was told by [redacted], that [redacted] the manager would call the following Monday to schedule the installation and review any details. I did not receive a call. I took advantage of the passing time to hopefully get used to the carpet or for it to grow on me. Unfortunately, it did not. On Oct. 20, 2013 I revisited the store (as I did not want to exceed the 30-day period [redacted] mentioned) to follow up on the call which was not received by [redacted]. I left my contact information with ** and he mentioned [redacted] would call me Monday as he was not available that day. Oct. 21, 2013 [redacted] called me and said that the offer [redacted] had made was not at all what they would offer and that he was not able to honor such an offer. My position is that the offer was made and the incorrect information delivered to a customer is not my burden to bear. I made an effort to contact the owner [redacted] and when he returned my call he was dismissive, impolite and insensitive (to a separate issue which occurred - described later). He would not honor the verbal offer [redacted] made either. He said during the conversation that IF [redacted] would have said anything like that he would have [redacted] pay for it. I realize tongue in cheek but again the burden is not on me if the incorrect information was relayed. I attempted to give [redacted] an extra opportunity to make this right before contacting the Revdex.com, writing a review on [redacted] and [redacted]. His response was, "If you are going to start with threats and try to blackmail me, this conversation is over." It is not at all my intent to threaten or blackmail but to let him know what my steps would be should he not honor the verbal offer. I thought it would be worth making it right versus the business he will lose based on the poor reviews.

Side note: An hour and a half after purchasing the carpet, the sales rep, [redacted], used my personal information from the sales receipt to contact me via text to ask if I had a boyfriend. I did not respond to this inquiry. This is completely unprofessional and was not acknowledged by [redacted], the owner, at all.Desired Settlement: Honoring of the verbal offer of the 10% restocking fee.

Response:

Carpet Depot regrets that Ms. [redacted], “just wasn’t satisfied” with the carpet she chose to have installed in her home, although “it had no defects and the installation was done correctly”.
