your policy with Topa Insurance Company. We have reviewed the recording
of your phone call. During the phone call, our representative said, “The
cancellation will become effective 12:am November 17th, which is
midnight tonight.” You replied “Okay”. Our representative then
confirmed, “Is that okay?” You replied, “That’s fine.” Later in the

This company has been the worst car insurance to deal with. I was set up with this account via my insurance broker. When I opened the account they said I cannot set up auto pay at that time and I needed to set it up before the next month. When I go back to set it up they said I had to do it at the start and cannot do it now. FAIL. Over the course of the 8 months I was with them I received about 10 cancellation letters due to lack of payment. The issue here is they would send it after I just paid for that month. My payment for the following month wasnt due for 3 weeks.
After dealing with their incompetence for month they actually canceled my account 8 months in saying we never provided them with the pictures of one of our vehicles. Which we did!
I was happy to be done with them. If they cant even handle taking my money, how will they handle an insurance claim if need be?
Now here is the kicker. This week, 4 months later I receive a letter from a collection agency saying that they tried to contact us to collect a balance of $22 with no success. 1st of all I have no idea what the charge is for. 2nd its a lie they tried to contact us. They have my cell, email and address, as well as our agents info. Neither of us have received any contact from them.
All in all this is a sketchy company. They are totally disoriented and lie about trying to contact us. I would not trust them to be of any help if you actually had an insurance claim. STAY CLEAR!

making any payment for the loss that occurred on May 23, 2015, because your policy has been deemed null and void as of the renewal date. Pursuant to California Insurance Code Section 359, an insurance company may rescind the insurance policy if the applicant misrepresents or conceals a material fact to the insurer. Section 359 specifically states: “If a representation is false in a material point, whether affirmative or promissory, the injured party is entitled to rescind the contract from the time the representation becomes false.” In addition, Section 331 of the California Insurance Code states: “Concealment, whether intentional or unintentional, entitles the injured party to rescind insurance.” We have been advised that in the course of an claim investigation, Western General obtained a statement from you in wherein you disclosed that you and F[redacted] are not married. You advised that F[redacted] is possibly the person that recommended you to purchase the insurance policy. You also confirmed that you are single and never were married. On December 10, 2010, you signed the application for insurance which asked you to provide your marital status. You falsely identified F[redacted] as your spouse. You designated your marital status as married. Since policy inception you received and returned annual questionnaires which identified F[redacted] as an excluded driver on your policy and never requested him to be removed from the policy, but requested other changes to your policy to further reduce your premium through adjustments in your commute distance and annual mileage.   The “APPLICANT’S STATEMENT” section of the policy application reads as follows: “1. I hereby declare that the statements made in this application are true and complete and these statements are made as an inducement to the Company to issue the insurance policy for which I am applying. I understand my failure to disclose information necessary for the Company to determine the acceptability of the risk and/or the appropriate premium to be charged may void the policy or may preclude coverage for this loss.” Furthermore, we sent you documents in which you were notified and reminded of your continuing obligation to notify us or Western General of any important changes. The document entitled, “Renewal Offer”, contained the following language reminding you of your duty to notify CGIA or Western General of those changes: “IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please be advised that your premium is based on the representations made in your application and you have a continuing obligation to notify your insurance company or CGIA of any changes or updates to the information you provided in your application. The kinds of information that may require updating include but are not limited to, adding or excluding all household members 12 years of age and older, new drivers, garaging locations, and your answers to the questions asked in the application. We renewed this policy based on the information that was submitted on your policy application. If you had disclosed that you were in fact single and not married, we would have rated your policy with the correct premium. Your failure to update Western General and us with important and required information is considered a material omission and/or misrepresentation, and is the grounds on which we rescind your policy retroactive to the date of renewal of December 11, 2014. On June 15, 2015 a refund of premium in the amount of $1,191.39 was sent to you.

The insurance has been fine for me...I've never had to use it....Good, cheap coverage. reinstates easily (I never pay it on time)!
The roadside assistance SUCKS! (and I use it)!
(I guess I should say that it is the tow companies that they use). Today my battery is dead....2 1/2 hours since I called for a jump....STILL not here...
Late for work....now I have to work tomorrow!! (NOT happy)
This has happened a few times in the past couple of years.....

DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE EXTREMELY UNPROFFESSIONAL. Called to pay my bill ON TIME and change coverage because I paid off my car, but they didnt want to pro rate me so they had me wait until the last day of that billing period. Called when they asked me to. I authorized the payment, then get a text from them saying my payment was late. Called to ask why and they gave some bs reason that they didnt pay it because they went and made a decision on my plan WITHOUT my consent. I called to cancel a couple of days after the last month ended and was told it would be cancelled as of that day. I get a notice in the mail saying my coverage was cancelled due to not paying on time. So I called again to ask why and they said that they couldnt cancel it when I asked because of some more bs and did NOT notify me of this. They claim that they called and left messages, but ive double checked my phone, and carrier and even checked my email and there is NO RECORD of them whatsoever trying to contact me about this situation. They claim that they did but once ive told them that I would go out of my way to prove that they infact were not doing their job, they hung up on me and are now dodging my calls. I dont know if they record their phone calls, but if they do, then that alone would be enough physical evidence to prove that they arent doing their job. Do not give these people your money, take it to someone who you can trust.

Review: Called them to cancelled my ins . I was just giving them heads up . To let them know I got a new Agency. Im payed up with them till the end of the month NOV 29 2015. my new INS starts Dec 1 . The women didnt explain to me that it would be cancelled the next day. She went straight for the recording to get me to agree to cancel and I did . but not knowing what I was doing . Till later on I was talking to a friend . I told her what I did and she said that my INS was cancel. I said to my friend that no im good till the NOV 29 2015 . My friend said I need to call them first thing in the morning and get reinstated , so call in the morning and explain to her what happen . I told her I didnt understand . why would I Cancel my INS two weeks early when im payed up with them intil Nov 29 2015 . Bobbie said she will talk to her boss and get back to me . she call back left a message . I called back and talk to someone eles . she said your INS is cancelled . I felt like I was led right to the recording so they could get rid of me . Now I have no INS for two weeks because I was being kind to let them know I was getting a different INS Agency.Desired Settlement: I want to be reinstated till NOV 29 2015 .

Review: The agency denied my claim after getting involved in an accident. They are accusing me of intentionally providing wrong information about my marital status when I had gotten the insurance recommended by a car salesman at the dealer through a broker. I have never been married and if I have known there was a mistake on my application and policy, which there was no way of me knowing, I would've informed them and gotten it fixed. I have full coverage comprehensive and collision and for five years I have been paying this company without me knowing there was a mistake on my policy. I have never had a late payment on my premiums and never been in an accident before and now they are denying my claim due to a mistake that I did not make.Desired Settlement: I believe that the agency should not deny my claim and either have my car fixed or total it. I would like something to be done.
