Review: I gave the cashier $40 dollars which she took. I went into my pocket to pay the additional $20 to pay my $56 bill. The cashier claimed that I did not give her the original $40. The [redacted] comes over and vouches for her integrity. A big scene ensues and not to make a bigger scene we paid our bill with a credit card. We are senior citizens and would never think to not pay for any services rendered. The cashier was telling everybody that I had [redacted]. It was a very embarrassing situation and ruined our vacation to New York City. Needless to say, we will never patronize them again. We feel that Carnegie Deli needs to reimburse us for the $40 that the cashier pocketed. This happened on August [redacted] at approximately 1:05 pm. Thank you for your attention to this complaint.Desired Settlement: An apology with a $40 refund is what we are requesting.

Response:

We have a security camera positioned directly above the cashier station where [redacted] paid his check. Upon review we see that he initially pulled what appears to be two twenty dollar bills from his wallet, holds the bills in his right hand, than places his wallet in his front left trouser pocket where he pulls out what appears to be several bills folded in half. He unfolds the bills, shuffles thru them, pulls out a twenty dollar bill and than adds the original bills (what appeared to be the two twenty dollar bills) to the pile. He hands the cashier a single twenty dollar bill.

[redacted] never gave the cashier the initial $40.

The entire transaction is recorded on tape.
