What a scam
Some how they tricked Multicare to do business with them. I also was tricked by paying a bill in full somehow granted them access to bill me on my 2nd bill. I get a bill(by the bill was for a dos 10 months before so I feel they stalled to being with), I pay it in full, following month get the same billed amount. I think to myself I already paid this. Mental note to call MultiCare about it (but think somehow it crossed in the mail with my payment) before I do get another bill, doubled because they added a late fee for the same amount. Huh? Late fees? No where does the bill even mention the doctor I saw or the date of service. Which doesn't align with new Washington Laws. The whole bill felt like they were bottom feeders trying to take advantage of people who have medical debt. Awful. Their practice to get my business was a scam/ I never knowingly agreed nor did I specifically ask for payment or want them. I have an HSA it was not needed. the billed the same mount twice, there is no reason I would think they were splitting up a medical bill. The full amount was not listed. SCAM. Someone should look into their practices they are scamming people with their practices. People like me who never asked for payment or wanted to do ANY business with them.

someone authorized them to take medical bill payments, then shut off statements
This is more than frustrating. no matter what I do, the 'portal' to their site says 'forbidden'. I found an email where someone forced through a registration and confirmation. and then instantly turned off paper statements. So what, i'm supposed to pay some ghost company $$ when I don't know what the bill is for?

HOW did you get my information? HOW do you know my DOB & phone number is in your system. WHY won't you give a phone number where I can actually talk to someone? all of my medical bills are on payment plans with my HSA card. Is this a way for you to scam people to get $$$ out of them? WHY do we need a 3rd party to pay medical bills? This seems like a serious breach as I never set up an account with you people. You can't turn off mailed statements (keeps me from getting my full account number) as well as give a phone number of 1-866-625-8532 that automatically hangs up if you hit O for Operator. No way to email you. No way to talk to a person. But my 'bill' with you is getting farther behind? Atty general of Ohio is getting notified, as well as Oregon. The BBB complaint is already files. Next will be Comptroller of the Currency, and maybe FBI fraud dept if I don't' hear back.

I called the above number to make a monthly payment of $90 using automated service with my checking account number. This company withdrew ENTIRE BALANCE of $632.35 making my checking account go sev hundred dollars in the hole which will cost me HUNDREDS in overdraft costs. This charge just showed up on my account today. Was not there yesterday. They say they can't do anything about it bc it was over 24 hours since I made "the pymnt". I NEED a refund from this company. I did not authorize this amount!

7/29/2020ACCOUNT: ***Dear Ms.,Thank you for providing us with an
opportunity to address your concerns. We apologize for any confusion regarding
the CarePayment program you may have experienced. CarePayment (in conjunction with
business associates and health care providers) makes available a payment
program allowing patients to pay their balance due over an extended period of
time. A person who elects to accept an offer for a CarePayment account may
elect to close the CarePayment account at any time. CarePayment is not a
collection agency nor does it furnish account histories to consumer reporting

Customer Care by phone, to inquire about a refund of a recent payment. The
payment in question was initiated by you through CarePayment’s IVR (Interactive
Voice Response) Phone options on July 18th, 2020. This system, while
also walking you through verification processes, offers two (2) options to make
a payment: via a Credit Card or with Checking or Savings account, the latter of
which requires a bank account and routing number. Once you have chosen your
preferred method, you are provided the option of making your minimum monthly
payment or paying the balance in full. You opted to pay the balance in full of
$632.35, as was confirmed by you during your IVR interaction. The payment you initiated on July 18th,
2020 was for the balance in full at that time, of $632.35. When you contacted CarePayment Customer Care on July 21st,
2020 we explained that a payment made with a Checking or Savings account can
only be stopped by CarePayment on the day of the payment. CarePayment advised
that reaching out to your financial institution from which the payment came may
be the best option to stop the $632.35 payment. On July 24th, 2020, CarePayment
reversed this payment and issued a refund check #5405 for $632.35, mailed to
your home address.Should you have any

UofM transfer my account over to them and said they would be able to stretch my payments over a 12 month period. Well they only did 6 months and have told them many times I can not afford that. So now they charging me late fees. So they are making it even more harder of paying this off. Because my health care provider never charged fees. An agent said I agreed to late fees but I didn’t sign anything agreeing to them charging me fees.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I do not recall getting any kind of welcome kit. CarePayment is only interested in charging fees. Because they know people can’t make their payments. Especially when I was told I could spread it out over 12 months. Come to find out it was only 6.

Sincerely

Customer Response • Jul 23, 2020

Please close the complaint. I have worked out payment arrangements that are acceptable to me

For 3 months I have received a billing statement from CarePayment with an account number and dollar amount due, without any supporting information. They do not provide a date or type of service, the care provider, or any supporting information for the charge. On two separate occasions I have called the company to determine what the charges are for, however, they will not provide me information unless I give them personally identifying information. During the last call I made with them on 06/29/2020, I provided them with the account number they assigned me and again asked what the charge was for. They could not tell me what was on my statement without me providing them with PII. In my opinion, they should at least be able to determine what is on the statement they sent me, without confirming any information, once they have the account number. The only logical conclusion I can make is that this is a scam to get me to provide them information.

only a 85$ bill from Metro Health.Since I was unemployed I agreed to make 25$payments to carepayment.I made one in February and one in March. I did miss April, due to losing new job layoff. they are trying to charge me a 25$ late payment.
I will not be paying them. I will be contacting Metro Health and paying them my balance directly. This is a very negative solution to paying off medical bills. I have never been charged a late fee or interest of any kind when making payments on medical bills. And I have owed thousands and unemployed off and on due to medical issues.
I am very unhappy with Metro Health and the fact they have anything to do with this company.I will pursue a complaint with them.

I submitted a payment of $1100 on 2/5/20 to my carepayment account in error. I don't have any outstanding balance with the company and they've sent me a statement advising of the overpayment. However they refuse to refund me my money. the rep told me the money had to sit on the account for 30 days and then the company will open an investigation which could take up to 90 days. To me this is crimanal. I don't owe any money to them but they're holding my money. I have called and asked for a manager or supervisor I was giving the name of Elba a supervisor 3 days ago and I left a message and no one has returned my call.

Care Payment is a RIP-OFF scam.
They tried to get me to make installment payments when this was already set up with my health care provider. All they seem to want is access to your banking info as 3 pages of the "bill" directs you into auto payments. They also threaten you with collections which they have no authority to do not being a credit or collection agency. Throw any such "bill from these low life's directly in the circular file.

my exact thoughts. Not sure about some 'welcome packet'. they do not make it possible to contact them. had to 'google' ways to contact them which is shady at best. they say I have an outstanding balance of $1600+ and that i'm behind by $300+. someone signed me up for their service, and immediately cancelled paper billing. If that's not shady I don't know what is. It's like being SLAMMED by long distance phone companies, or utility billing companies. this feels like the same thing. then the 866-625-8532 has NO WAY to talk to anyone and disconnects you if you hit 0 for operator. They called me AFTER I complained to the BBB and gave me the same damn 866-625-8532 number where there is no way to talk to anybody. it's automated! what kind of rinky-dink ripoff company is this? I have all of my medical bills set up through automatic payment. IF and I say if there is a medical bill out there I haven't paid or set up, it's in dispute. But I need more than emails saying I'm behind, and other shady crap to tell me what is going on. MAIL ME A FULL COPY of my supposed bill, who it is supposedly from. WHY when I click anything on your shady website does it say 'forbidden' no access? worse run company I can think of

I started receiving payment emails from Carepayment on 16 Jan 2020 and again on 24 Jan 2020. I have no idea who these people are and why they are contacting me, so this must stop immediately and have my email removed from their contact list.

Thank you,

but WHO, WHO says you can start billing someone on behalf of the medical provider? and then not leave us a way to contact you back to dispute the bill, or even talk about it? crappy website and phone numbers you leave us to try to discuss the bill?

Seriously, carepayment: take the time and walk through the process AS AN OUTSIDER and you will see how asinine your process is. Your website is garbage and so is the 866-625-8532. and it may actually be illegal what you are doing. WHO is going to go to the trouble to find your ACTUAL phone number. and ACTUAL email where you can be reached. Your 'agent' left me that number above to contact them, when THERE IS NO WAY TO SPEAK TO ANYONE using that number. and SOMEONE at your company signed me up, verified my information with Microsoft supposedly, and immediately shut off paper statements?

My child, a minor, was seen in the emergency room. We started paying our hospital bill through the hospital when we suddenly started receiving Carepayment applications. I shredded and trashed them as I prefer to deal directly with the hospital. They enrolled my minor child into the program later on without any parental/adult consent. My husband and I called within a week or two of receiving the letters corresponding with our minor child about the account we never agreed to open, letting the company know everything including the fact that our child was a minor (age *) and we did not want the account. They agreed to delete the account but the attemps from Carepayment to correspond with my child continued including letting the child know what their balance was (Carepayment must have been getting info from the hospital). It was also apparent they never closed the account. I kept meticulous record of my payments and I know I paid off my bill (sending everyone of my payments directly to the hospital and ignoring carepayment's billing). Now I am receiving threats and notices from Carepayment saying we still owe money and that they will charge us fines and fees if we don't pay. I am not in the mood to prove my innocence over an account that was put in my minor child's name and opened without my consent over a bill I do not owe.

I am rejecting this response because:Regarding the phone conversation you mention in March, my husband and I were both on the call. If neither of us is "the customer nor an authorized party on the mentioned account" that just proves the account opened in our minor child's name was opened fraudulently by your company. This is your responsibility to fix, you need to contact whomever you need to, or consult with your legal department about resolving this issue quickly. Our child is too young to be held legally responsible for this bill. We are the parents and neither of us completed an application. So we have two problems that need addressed BY THE COMPANY CAREPAYMENT.

1. Who fraudulently set up an account in my minor child's name. And why were they allowed to. Whatever you have in place to screen applications is not working. Please submit a copy of the application to my email address.

2. We have paid off the account regardless.

if you choose to continue to play games and insist we need to be the one to clean up this mess that we did not create, we will seek legal action regarding the fraudulent account you opened in our mind's name without an authorized application.

My bill was paid directly to the hospital on the 1st billing cycle and then the Carepayment Bills started coming. I have called Carepayment 3 times and they have said it takes 30-60 days to get through the cycle and I shouldn't receive any more bills from them. I still receive bills from them every month for the same amount. Contacted the hospital and they confirm that my balance is paid in full.

I had an account with them and paid it off. I over paid them 54.48. I have contacted them every month for at least 5 months. They told me I had to wait until 60 days for it to clear hospital
The hospital said I did not owe any more on that account and said they emailed and told them that.
I still have not gotten my money and they keep making excuses. If I owed them they would have already sued me. It may not be alot of money to some but it is to me. It would buy my meds. I am so tired of getting the run around from them. Please can you help me. They keep sending monthly statements saying they owe me but I have yet to see the money.

On May 10th, 2019, you reached out to CarePayment to verify the credit balance on your account. At that time, we were able to confirm that we showed a credit balance and advised the process to refund may take several months. While you have a balance with CarePayment, credit or otherwise, we are required to provide a monthly statement. This process takes time, depending on the speed of your provider.

We have confirmed on September 14th, 2019, your credit balance amount of $54.48 is accurate, and a refund check was mailed out that day to your home address.

So yes my next call is to *** to resolve any problems.

Carepayment recently partnered with *** Chattanooga Tn. I received a notice from them stating I owe them 50.00 and threatening to charge an additional fee up to 25.00 if payment isn't received. The first notice has a DOS of July 12, 2018. I contacted carepayment to inform them I owe no such bill to ***. They gave me *** number, which I contacted. Someone I spoke with named April (no last name) informed me this is a new collection agency the hospital has contracted with and after searching and finding no bills due informed me to just "ignore" the notice. I also wrote a letter to the Beaverton Or address as instructed on the back of carepayment, informing them of what "April" had advised. And gave them the number to contact "April" in *** Billing dept. I never heard back from carepayment after that first notice on 07/20/2019. This time no DOS listed as in the original notice. Carepayment yet to respond to my original letter denying I owe ***. They only sent another notice.

We received your letter disputing the balance on July 1, 2019, and promptly contacted *** Health System to verify the balance, a process that may take several weeks. *** Health System has confirmed that the balance for account number ***, Date of Service 7/12/2018, has been written off by *** Health System. adding a footnote: Thank you for resolving this issue on my behalf, Revdex.com. However, I would like to respond to a section of the response to you from carepayment which stated in paragraph 4 I was sent a "Welcome Kit" offer to my home address on June 15, 2019 to open an account. That carepayment statement is completely false. I was sent a billing notice with a warning stating I owed *** $50.00 for a "new patient" service received on July 12, 2018. It was not a Welcome kit, but a notice, with wordings and language similar to some collection agencies. In fact when I called and spoke with "April" in billing at *** I was told this was a new "collection agency" *** had partnered with and for me to "just ignore" the notice.

The billing notice was not an offer to open an account with carepayment. It was a warning that if payment wasn't received within a certain due date I could be billed additional charges up to $25.00. A second notice came over a week ago, only this time without a DOS listed, virtually stating the same thing as the first. That being, that I could be charged an additional up to $25.00 dollars if a 'principal' payment isn't received by a listed date on the notice (First due date was July 10, 2019 on first notice/second due date August 10, 2019 on second notice. I'm unable to scan and send copies of both notices in an attachment, but I've retained both notices for my record keeping and future references. In no way did either notice mention anything about a "Welcome Kit" or opening up some kind of an account. This was a billing notice accompanied by a warning and threat that if payment wasn't received by due dates mentioned additional charges would be added.

Otherwise, I'm satisfied and grateful to Revdex.com for helping me to resolve the matter to my satisfaction. That is I'm not in debt to *** for any overdue or past due bills.

Dear Mr.,

Thank you for providing CarePayment with an opportunity to address your concerns. We apologize for any confusion regarding the CarePayment program you may have experienced.

CarePayment (in conjunction with business associates and health care providers) makes available credit programs (0.00% APR payment plans) to healthcare providers’ patients. The CarePayment program is no cost, but late fees may be assessed if the account is opened but payments are not made on time as agreed. A person who elects to accept an offer for a CarePayment account may elect to close the CarePayment account at any time. CarePayment is not a collection agency nor does it furnish account histories to consumer reporting agencies.
On March 31, 2019, a payment of $3,237.44 was received by CarePayment. This payment was not made to CarePayment directly, but rather to the hospital provider Abington Health via your attorney. The payment resulted in a credit of $1,637.44 as the balance on the CarePayment account was only $1,600.
In the event of an overpayment, CarePayment waits 30 days to allow for processing, adjustments, and additional settlements. Once that 30-day period is over, the remaining credit balance is reviewed internally and with the hospital provider to ensure accuracy. This time frame can take 30-60 days, depending on the specifics of the situation. This process was explained during the phone calls made on April 30, 2019 and May 16, 2019. Additionally, these are the only two contacts we have on record; we have no record of a call on April 2, 2019.
At this time, Abington Health and CarePayment have concluded their review of the overpayment. Abington Health has requested that CarePayment return the payment of $3,237.44 and the original account balance of $1,600 to Abington. Abington will be applying $625 of the credit to an additional balance owed (not loaded at CarePayment) and will refund the remaining amount, totaling $1,012.44. For any additional questions regarding this payment or refund, please contact Abington Health at 888-974-1242.

Should you have any additional questions concerning CarePayment or the account at issue, please contact CarePayment at 866-498-9861 or write to us at CarePayment, 9600 SW Nimbus Ave, Suite 260, Beaverton, OR 97008.

The CarePayment Welcome Kit, originally mailed to you with the initial account offer, included a description of the services from the healthcare provider, including the healthcare provider account number and date of service, as well as the membership terms and conditions. These terms and conditions explained that in order to activate your account and accept the terms, you simply need to make a payment.

On April 9, 2019, CarePayment received a payment from you for the entire balance of your CarePayment account, along with a note indicating that you did not want to participate in the program. Participation is voluntary and so we immediately closed the account per your request. However, you choosing to activate your account and accept the terms by making a payment automatically triggered a membership card to be sent to you the following day; we apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this correspondence must have caused. Please be assured that your account was closed per your instruction on April 9th.

I find it hard to believe that there are only 2 complaints. first of all, if you pay your medical bills at least once a month and show that you are making an attempt to pay - you do not get penalized. I signed up, in good faith, that I was doing the right thing, and regret my decision. the late fees that would be incurred otherwise are sinking me into a deeper hole. not a helpful not helpful in least. actually hurting me more than if I never signed up
