Review: I went to CarX on 12/29/14 to see what they could do for me as I had a screw in my passenger side tire. I talked to the manager [redacted] (Manager) at Springdale location CarX Phone number ###-###-####. It is located at 175 W. Kemper Road. He looked at the tire and said they can?t patch it because the screw was too close to the edge of the tire (about 1.5 in over from the edge) and his patch would be too big. So I told him I would like to get two new tires and have the two front tires (one with screw) gotten rid of. He said what kind do you want, I said, ?[redacted] I guess, but I want to see them first?. He said he could give me the Black Friday sale price if I buy four. He gave me a price on four [redacted] tires for my car. I said, ?no I only want two?. His employee went to look for tires for my car. Then he came into the lobby where I was and looked at the tires they had on display. There was one small display tire that the employee said, ?this one is a little small, would I like to try it?? I said no. The manager laughed and said no. Then he went outside on the street side of their building and checked the tires that were stacked on top of each other four or five tires laying on their sides under an advertisement cover (stacked tire shape cover) for tires on sale. He wheeled the display with all the tires to the other side of the building and he looked at them some more. Then [redacted] came back in and said how about [redacted] Tires. I said I had never heard of them. He said they are good tires and with the warranty if I ever get a flat tire screw or something goes wrong with the tire all I would have to do is bring it in and they would replace it. I said ok. Then they looked in the back room and couldn't find any in my tire size (for a 2004 [redacted]). He said that I would have to come back on Monday (12/01/14) because their warehouse was closed, they wouldn't be able to do it today. I told him I really wanted the tires today. I asked him,? would the tire with the screw be ok to drive on until Monday (it was Saturday)? His employee said as long as I don?t burn the tires off, I would probably be ok. I thought about it and said ok. I decided to wait until Monday to get two [redacted] tires. I went back on Monday morning and I told [redacted] I wanted two [redacted] tires put on my car. I wanted to get rid of the two (one with screw) on the front. I told him I wanted the two new [redacted] tires put on my car in the back and then I wanted them to bring the tires that were in the back brought to the front. He repeated what I said several times. Then he said have a seat. Then the employee came in and said I?m going to go get your tires at a warehouse off of Muhlhauser road. I said ok. He came back about 15 or 20 minutes later. I sat there for a total of two hours and they said your car is ready. He asked me do I want the tire replacement warranty. He told me it was only $8.00 per tire. I said, ?Ok.? So I paid him and left. On the way home I noticed that my tires were now making a loud noise coming from the front tires like snow tires would. The next day, while I was checking my tires for screws before I left, I noticed that I no longer had my [redacted] tires that I had purchased from them in 2010. They were the tires they were supposed to move to the front from the back. Instead I had 2 [redacted] tires that had more wear and were showing signs of rot, there are small cracks in the side wall (especially the passenger side) and on the tread edge itself. I thought,? they didn't give me my tires I had on the back they gave me some other tires.? I went back to the CarX in Springdale City Ohio to complain on 12/08/14. I asked him, ?What happened to my 4 year old [redacted] tires that were on the back of my car?? He said, ?you wanted them brought forward, that?s what we did. I said, ?I didn't have [redacted] tires on my car, ever.? I only had General Tires, that is what the car came with and that is what I boughtDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)
I would like my full amount of money reimbursed because my 2 [redacted] tires that I purchased from them in 2010 are gone and they gave me 2 rotten, cracked, noisy [redacted] tires that were not on my car before that day. I would also like to have my road hazard warranty money reimbursed also because there is no mileage/date to prove to them or the manufacturer what the mileage was when I got them. Now I will have to buy 2 more tires that I

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
On 02/20/15 I received a call from Car-X. I talked to [redacted].
He asked me what I thought would be a fair way to resolve the fact that the
CarX on Kemper road in Springdale Ohio
had given me 2 old [redacted] tires instead of leaving on the 2 [redacted] tires
that I wanted to keep. I told him, I thought he should reimburse me the full
amount that I had paid for the [redacted] tires that I had purchased at this
CarX. I told him when I gotten my 2 new
[redacted] tires; that they did not put any mileage on my receipt. So I don’t
have anything to go on for the warranty for usage or age of my [redacted] and I
also paid extra for their road hazard warranty. I told him I had asked for the 2 new [redacted]
tires and they also took off the 2 [redacted] tires that should have stayed on my
car. Now I will have to buy 2 more tires because the rotten [redacted] tires that
they gave me instead of my 2 [redacted] tires are not safe to drive on.
They switched my 20,000 mile [redacted] tires
with 2 old rotten [redacted] tires that were made on the 43rd week of
2003. They are rotten and are not my tires that I drove in with that day. I
drove in that day with 4 [redacted] tires on my car. I came out with 2 [redacted]
and 2 old rotten [redacted] tires, when I only asked for 2 new [redacted] tires to
replace 2 of the 4 [redacted]’s that were on my car when I came in that day.
He said he couldn't do a full reimbursement.
He said he had stopped into that CarX that I went to, to see if he could find
my 2 [redacted] tires. He said he didn't see my 2 [redacted] tires anywhere. I asked,”Did
he check the employee’s car tires”? He said he was having a hard time believing
what I was saying was true, about them switching my tires. I told him I have been going to that store for
18 years, why would I wait until now to fake a problem. Why would I wait 18
years? He said, “Yes, you have been a customer for 18 years”.
He said, by
the way that Manager at that store left his job the next day after [redacted] had visited
the store and he hasn’t been back since. He told me that the manager said that
my odometer wasn’t working right. I told [redacted] that there is no problem with my
odometer it is/was working fine. He also told me that the manager must have
erased all of my repair records for that store.
[redacted] said, “how
about we get you to bring in your car and we can scrape up some used tires to
put on your car”? I said I don’t want someone else’s used tires and at this
point I wouldn’t trust them not to rip me off again. Any tires that they would
have would not have 20,000 miles on them like the ones his employee stole. My
tires only had 20,000 miles on them. He said how about we’ll give you one new
tire and then you buy the other one. I thought that sounds like their sale “buy
2 get 2 free”. I tried to explain to him that all of this time was wasted on
trying to resolve this issue because his employee decided to rip me off and
exchange my good tires that still had a warranty for some old rotten ones.
Then [redacted] said,
“I find it hard to believe that they are rotten. I said they have cracks on the
sidewalls. He said, “No, they don’t”. I said, “Maybe that’s why they put them
on with the serial number inside, so I couldn’t see how old they are”. I told
him I took my video cam and held it inside by the axle so I could see the
serial number to see how old they are. While I looked at the video to get the
serial number, I saw many cracks in the side wall and on the tread. I said,
“Maybe that’s why they put them on the wrong way”. I reminded him that I saw the employee look
outside where they have an advertisement tire stack shaped tarp covering 4 to 6
tires that had been sitting outside at the driveway entrance. This is where
they looked for my “new” tires and my guess is that is why and when they
decided switch my 20,000 mile [redacted] tires (the 2 that I wanted to keep) with
their 2 rotten [redacted]’s.
He said he can’t give me the full amount. I
said,” I don’t even have a warranty on the [redacted] tires I bought that day
because they didn't put the mileage down”.
He said, “They can measure the tread”.
He kept saying
he can’t reimburse me for the full amount. I did finally agree to half the
amount, but only because I could see this was getting nowhere and he also had
me on speaker phone with a lady making comments in the back ground agreeing
with everything he said. I said, “Fine” in an angry tone. He said he would send
me a check for half the amount and that he cannot credit my credit card because
this has gone on too long. Almost three months. I don’t think I should get badgered into
taking less because his employee ripped me off. I really do feel like I should get a full
reimbursement. I am only asking for the cost of 2 cheap tires like the [redacted]
I just bought from them. I am not trying to get enough of a refund to pay for a
better type of tire.
All of the work
I had done there has no records now? No warranty on anything I had done. I even
paid extra for a road hazard warranty for the new [redacted] tires I bought. I
had a warranty for the 2 [redacted] tires that they took, the 2 that I bought
there 4 years ago, the 2 that I wanted to keep.
He said he would
send me half the amount of what I had spent on the two [redacted] tires I bought.
So now he wants me to pay for a tire that I would not have to buy, if it
weren’t for his employee switching my 20,000 mile tires that I wanted to keep
for 2 [redacted] that show they were made in 2003.
I think it’s a
shame because when I first started going there, I really liked this store
because it was the only place I could find that actually changed my oil instead
of just charging me and acting like they changed my oil. I even would brag to
friends and family what a good place it was to get your car fixed. I told them
you can trust them to do it right. I can’t say that now.
Now he expects
me to go and get 2 tires with half of the money it will cost me. All because his
employee decided to rip me off. And I really don’t appreciate the fact that
after being a customer for 18 years, his employee ripped me off and now he
doesn't even want to give me a full refund for what the employee ripped
off? Is that customer satisfaction?
Regards,
