Review: My car broke down on the freeway, Called AAA and they reccomended Car Tech, So I called ahead and was told 109.00 inspection fee. Went ahead had it towed, They called in a few days and told me it was a crankshaft sensor, we told them it had previously showed a cam and a crankshaft sensor. Price quoted was 725.00 I told them to go ahead with the repair/
They called back later and told us ito needed a rear main seal for a total of 900.00. Seemed high but I approved the repair as long as iy would be running by friday.
Thursday night they called and told us that the engine was not repairable, but still wanted the 900.00. I told them that was too much considering they had not repaired the car. They imformed me that they had performed the work but it did not fix the problem and wanted to be paid,
Friday morning I went in with my sister to pick up the car, and negoicated the price down to 225.00, which is still to much since they had not repaired the car. I mean after all they did have the car to inspect before quoting the price, and failed to diagnose the problem properly. Should have at most been 109.00 the price they ask for for diagnosis, which they did not do properly.
Anyway had the car towed to my daughters house, and went home. Called a friend of mine whom works as a Master Mechanic, described the problem and right away he told what was wrong, where the part was located and what to do about, 11.00 dollar relay. Under steering wheel.
Went back to my daughters house 2 hours from mine opened the hood, this is the first time we have seen the engine since Car Tech worked on it, valve cover missing, cam timing chain cut half has fallen down inside engine. Mechanics parts tray still under hood. Seems like it would have been nice if car tech would have mentioned it since they had no reason to pull this cover or tamper with the cam chain..
Called Car Tech ask for the owner, seems he does not want o talk, they claim he is not available.Desired Settlement: Repair of vehicle they damaged, now needing a complete engine. Or purchase the damaged vehicle from me at a price to also cover my time dealing with thus issue.

With AAA's involvement as an arbitrary third party, a mutually satisfactory has resulted. A refund in the amount of $225 has been released to customer's credit card.
On 7/26/2014 customer confirmed receiving the refund described above. A copy is attached for your record.
