Capital Women's Care did not apply due diligence in billing me and my insurance. They mishandled my case, took me to collections and lied on me!
I got my son's circumcision done in their Rockville office by Doctor Imad M on February 11, 2019. My son and I are insured by *** through my job. At the point of visit, I presented my *** insurance card. Capital Women's care mistakenly sent a claim to *** which is not my insurance. In November 2019, they mailed me an invoice saying *** denied the claim and that I owe them $460. I called the billing office on December 3, 2019 to let them know they made an error by billing *** as that is not my insurance. During that call, I did a 3-way call and put my insurance, *** on the phone with them and my insurance and I gave them the right *** claims address. My insurance agent told them to submit the claim ASAP that they would honor the claim since it was still within one year of service. Since then, I have called capital women's care billing office several times to check if they filed the claim. Each time, the billing office told me the "back office" was yet to process the claim and they will ensure that they did and that I need not do anything further. They finally submitted the claim in March 2020 after one year of service so my insurance denied the claim. Instead of informing me that the claim had been denied because they filed late, Capital women's care submitted my name to collections! I found out the claim had been denied when I received a letter from First state financial service a collection service.
Since then, I have called the billing office and doctor's office several times to resolve the issue and while the billing office admitted fault and put in request for the bill to be written off, the office manager's office told a different lie each time I called. Joy , the office manager said it was all my fault that I must have given them the wrong information. How's that possible that I gave a *** insurance card when I only have one insurance which is ***? Joy also said she called me in November 2019. I have gone through my phone records in 2019 and do not see a missed call from capital women's care. I called Joy, the office manager again last week and once I told them I was calling about my bill, they put me on a long hold until I was forced to hang up. A lady called Wanda then called back and said that they investigated and my child was not covered under my insurance. Not true! Meanwhile they also admitted that they have the record of the call on December 3 2019 from me and my insurance company asking them to submit the claim. My insurance company also kept a record of the call. My son's birth cost me $15k and my insurance paid all the claims with exception of this one because it was submitted late. I asked Wanda to let me speak with a patient advocate and she said she was the advocate which I didn't think was true.
I am seeking that Capital Women's Care make a billing adjustment which includes writing off the $400 bill. I am seeking that Capital Women's care withdraw my name from Collections and remove any negative report on credit score.
reviewed account. The office manager closed this with the collections agency on 5/12/2020.
CWC sent my bill to collections after they informed me they would not, as they were looking into adjusting my bill.I ha
I have been trying to resolve a billing issue since October. I was billed for something that I am not liable for. I was told numerous times they would be in contact with my insurance company, however, every time I called back I was given a different answer. I was told they didn't have the right explanation of benefits or that they did contact them and I was liable. I submitted my EOB for the date of service, along with a letter from my insurance company informing them I was not liable. When I called back to see if they adjusted my bill I was told they never received anything. I did this twice. I then had my insurance company call, which I was on the line, and it sounded like we had the issue resolved. Reference number for that call #***. I was told they were going to adjust this, put my account on hold so it would not go to collections and I would receive a new statement with the adjusted price. This was the first week in February. Fast forward to March 5th, I received a letter from a collection agency (***) with an additional fee attached. I called CWC back and they told me that it shouldn't have been sent and that they would look into it again, which in the past has resolved nothing. This call I spoke with Mary M, that's the only info they would give me regarding a reference number. I spoke with *** and they were understanding and told me they would give me time to get it figured out and that they would even be willing to call this week if they don't have it resolved. However, I don't trust a word CWC says to me. They have jerked me around enough. I still have not heard back from them. CWC billing department has been extremely negligent. They told me every time that my issue would be moved to high priority, and it got me nowhere. I do not want my credit affected, I am more than willing to pay my bill, but I will not pay more than I owe. They are trying to get this money out of me that I don't owe. It's unethical and should be illegal. This billing department is the most poorly run business I have ever come across.
My account number with Capital Women's Care: ***
This amount that I am not liable for is $55 which should bring my bill down to $195.46. The bill I received was in the amount of $250.46. I have received and paid all other bills associated with this surgery.
I would like to receive a revised statement from Capital Women's Care, as well as the letter to FirstStates Financial retracted. I do not want my credit affected.
We received this complaint on March 15th. We take patient satisfaction very seriously at Capital Women's Care so I immediately reached out to the Supervisor at our billing Company, *** in Hunt Valley, requesting that she review the account and resolve any errors on the patient's account. She reviewed the account and corrected the posting error. She called the Collection agency and requested they close the account. She reinstated the patient back to active balance status and sent a corrected statement of $195.46 to the patient's address. She called the patient to apologize but the patient was not in so she left a message and a request for call back if there were any additional questions or concerns. The patient called back on March 22nd and confirmed with a customer service rep that a new statement with the correct balance was being sent on 3/21. I have confirmed this information in our system and called the collection agency to confirm that the account has been closed and no reporting was ever sent to any credit bureau so this will have no impact on her credit.
We do apologize for the inconvenience these errors caused our patient.
My office visit was misrepresented to my insurance company for erroneous billing.
I went to see this doctor because I was experiencing some vaginal discomfort. My husband and I confirmed that there was a sizable knot in my vaginal area that should be checked out. I explained this to the doctor when I was seen.
