Canandaigua Contractors

I hired this contractor/business to build a greenhouse at my home/small farm. The project has been abandoned completely.
I made the ultimate mistake of paying this contractor in full. I have known this contractor on a friendly level for years, and after he promised to never screw me over, I believed his word. As soon as the payments were made (he first requested 80% up front due to excavation costs), the projected slowed, was put on the back burner month after month, then ceased completely. My husband and I tried to be understanding of his personal problems affecting this project again and again and again.
I currently have a non-functional greenhouse, that is literally coming a part, has water issues inside, and the contractor has made no efforts since 2019 to finish. This project began in 2018 and was supposed to have been completed that spring.
Despite our contracts, this contractor has blamed my husband and I for issues faced along the way, including his error with the cost associated with his sub-contractor (cement and whatnot), blamed us the the water line he cut that we were unsure of, and requested more money to move forward. We almost paid him more but requested actual records for expenses and were not satisfied with the hand-written estimates/partial receipts and decided against it.
I have had to close the permit with the town as the project was abandoned and expections could not be completed.
