Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company sent me a packet right before Christmas, when holidays slow mail deliveryA letter TOLD me I was enrolled in their credit card insurance programme and quoted what I consider to be an exorbitant rateIf I want to opt out, I have to respond to them in writing and the policy will be cancelled at the next billing cycleNeedless to say, that is what I am doing
Other credit card insurers have actually ASKED me if I wanted their insurance and their information was clear and straightforward, with a reply section to opt-inWith this company, there was no time to respond before they charged a premium to my credit cardThere was no check-off form to opt-out and no self-addressed stamped envelopeI had to write a letter and reply at my own cost
In addition, the "cancellation" information and cost of the policy were buried in eleven pages of fine print I don't want my review deleted, so I will not express my personal opinion of this kind of business practice, other than to say that I believe a consumer is at a disadvantage with this type of approachIt may be legal but I don't do business with companies like this
