They are the WORST!
Do not use Blue Haven DE to install your pool! I received an email on March 16 informing us that our construction would begin in 2-3 weeks. Construction didn’t start until the May! We have had a hole in our backyard since the beginning of May! No one will return our calls, texts or emails! We were told 6-8 weeks…what a joke!
Their customer service is so bad that they have to have their employees post good reviews! (Photo included is of a review left by the person we are dealing with, when we can get her on the phone!)
We have been lied to NUMEROUS times throughout this entire process!
They are the WORST!

Blue Haven has contacted [redacted] and a meeting is scheduled with her on Wednesday 7/6/@ 11:am at her site for an inspection.Thank you

In response to the [redacted] / [redacted] Complaint you should be aware the pool has been plastered and completedBecause of all of the variables that go into constructing a swimming pool, including reliance upon the actions of the Township in issuing permits and equally as important, the weather conditions, we, as a company, make it a practice never to guarantee a completion dateOur contracts and our discussions with our customers always confirm with them we will move as expeditiously as possible, weather permitting and depending upon the actions of third parties such as the township in the permit processIt should be noted this pool was completed in about ninety (90) days from the date the contract was signedThis is significant in that it took six (6) weeks for the Township to issue the permit on this poolAfter the permit was issued, the pool was completed within sixty (60) days We have always tried to move as expeditiously as possible with the [redacted] / [redacted] pool as we do with all of our customersWe do not “lie” to our customersDuring construction of this pool we even attempted to complete the pool before rain approached which caused us to redo the plaster because of the rainHomeowners, once they sign a pool contract, are very anxious to have their pool completed and to begin swimming in their poolWe are equally as anxious to complete the pool as we get paid at each step of the processThere is no monetary interest on the part of BHP to delay construction of the swimming poolIn short, we do not get paid unless we complete the pool, equally as important, we are at the mercy of the weather and circumstances such as the permit process which are controlled by third parties to which we have no controlWhile we all want the pool to be completed as quickly as possible, we realize there are circumstances beyond both the homeowners and BHP’s controlThis reality is often hard for the customers to accept and they quite often lash out in anger due to their frustration The reference in the Complaint to the emails talking about “more fun” is a term that is often used between employees at BHP when describing weather conditions and other setbacks in the processWe refer to that as “fun” in a sarcastic tone to each other since we know the weather conditions and Township delays wreak havoc on our planning schedules and more times than not trigger a backlash from our customers who are anxiously awaiting the completion of their poolThis is not a lack of professionalism or disrespect meant to the customer but rather terminology used by employees to describe the effects of weather delays and of other delays in the pool building process Lastly, the reference that numbers were fudged to the inspectors is totally inaccurate and an allegation which we take very seriouslyThe customer in this instance has gone beyond just becoming angry at the process but has misstated what they were told in a manner which we could only assume was meant to harm BHP and its reputationWe can state very clearly that no numbers were fudged or would ever be fudged with inspectorsNo single pool is worth BHP’s reputation in the townshipWe believe [redacted] / [redacted] are referring to the measurement for impervious surfaces which are controlled by the TownshipThe sales person spoke to the homeowners and indicated that many pool companies do not measure the home exactly when presenting the existing impervious surfaces which is to the homeowners detriment and advised the homeowners he and BHP make sure that the home is properly measured so the customer can present to the township accurate measurementsThere is no “fudging” but rather a representation that exact measurements would be taken for the customers benefit so they can obtain the maximum amount of improvements to their property Finally, as indicated above, the pool has been plastered and completed, final payment has been made and we are unaware of any ongoing complaints with this customer We believe the matter should be closedShould you require additional documentation, please let us know

The delays and challenges which Mr& Mrs [redacted] refer to in the letter all stem from them Inability to make certain color selections, their electrical work not being up to code and having to change scheduled dates by Blue Haven Pools to complete work to accomadate their schedule When Blue Haven was ready to schedule the work the [redacted] 's were not This caused delays for example....The renovation of the pool started on 10/22/ This included removal of deck, tile & coping The pool demo, tile, coping and plumbing were complet and ready for decking on 11/4/ Blue Haven contacted the customer to schedule and we were advised by the [redacted] s that they were not ready to pour the deck from 11/4/to 11/20/due to not being able to make a color selection for their decking This put Blue Have in a position of time running out due to winter weather and cold temperatures not condusive to this type of work The deck was poured on 11/24/16.The [redacted] s did not report any challenge with the color of the deck until 6/8/In the spring when Blue Haven started to schedul plaster work and the [redacted] s were contacted on 4/13/to schedule the first phase of refinishing the pool which was set for 4/15/ The [redacted] s advised they would not be available until 5/13/and 5/20/ We advised that the phase is weather related and we can not guarantee that date since it all depends on the weather This is just two examples of the scheduling challenges that caused delays for both parties As per the desired outcome / settlement listed by the [redacted] - Blue Haven Pools will contact them via email in the winter of to set up a date and time in the Spring of to look at the plaster for discoloration and cracking and to explain the operation of the Salt System.Thank you.Ed K***

June 29, 2015Dear [redacted] Blue Haven at no time has shirked its responsibilities for the renovation work done to the [redacted] poolThe Blue Haven representative was contacted by [redacted] after the work was originally completed to help her with algae in her poolThe salesperson, Dominic, even went to [redacted] Pools and bought the supplies for [redacted] and cleared up the algae problem even though this had nothing to do with the pool renovation work done by Blue HavenDominic later assisted again to help with a sand filter issue which work was also not part of the renovation workDominic went to [redacted] ’s Pool Supplies and purchased the chemicals and took care of the issue at no charge to the homeownerOnce those issues were resolved the [redacted] swam in their pool after the renovation work was completed and we believe had their pool winterized at the end of the pool seasonAfter the renovation was completed and all during the summer there were no complaints made to Blue Haven regarding any leaking pipes or any other issues from the [redacted] The complaint the homeowner is making now appears to be related to the winterization of the poolBlue Haven was not hired to winterize the poolIf the pool was not properly winterized and water is not properly flushed out of the system, pipes can freeze and cause damage which can cause leaks similar to the complaints being made by the [redacted] This complaint is unrelated to the renovation of the Novello swimming pool by Blue Haven but appears to be related to the winterization of the pool which was not performed by Blue Haven Pools. The contract between the parties provides if the [redacted] want to request a service call they first need to follow the procedures of contacting Blue Haven Pools, providing a credit card and Blue Haven Pools will then come out and diagnose the problemIf the problem is unrelated to Blue Haven's renovation work there is a charge for the inspection [redacted] has refused to follow this process and procedureNot only has Blue Haven stood behind its product, but the Salesperson went out on his own time and without charge to the [redacted] to assist in clearing up algae in the pool which is very common with pool owners over the summer months and to assist with a sand filter issueBlue Haven has gone above and beyond its responsibilities with regard to this project and it is the homeowner who has failed to follow the procedures provided under the contract agreed to by the partiesQuite frankly it sounds like there was a failure to properly winterize the pool which caused a leak in the plumbing for the pool which would not be covered by the warranty under the Blue Haven contract for obvious reasons, but would be the responsibility of the company that winterized the poolBlue Haven remains ready, willing and able to respond to a warranty call and diagnose the problem although it would appear the homeowner should be contacting the winterizing company directly. If you should require any further information please feel free to contact meThank you, Raymond [redacted] C President

We have been in contact with the [redacted] 's and the following work has been completed to date Tile & Coping - 5/28/ Mastic - 6/3/ Plumbing is done - pump needs to be wired and handrail installed It has been discovered that the pool was previously painted and will now need to be sandblasted prior to the plasterThe [redacted] 's have agreed to have this work done which is now scheduled for June 9thWhen the sandblasting is completed the pool will be prepped and bondcoted and then plastered by June 15th or 16th (weather permitting)If you require any further information please let me know Thank you

We hired Calvitti Pools which is the local agent for Blue Haven Pools to rehab our pool this past spring The entire process has been a nightmare All these people do is lie to you and then cannot even remember the lies they told youThey quoted our job wrong then lied about why it was taking so long to complete They bumped us off the schedule several times and different people at the company give you a different story every time you call They are not forthcoming with information, they do not communicate with customers They damaged one of our drains during the rehab and were scheduled to come fix it, then they didn't show As a small business owner, I have never been so disgusted in seeing how another company operates If I treated my customers this way I would be out of business

In response to the claim filed by [redacted] any and all additional footage above the contract is the responsibility of the buyer to pay as per the signed contract termsThe landscaping was not the only reason for additional footageThe pool equipment was moved by the buyer the day of the excavation outside of his landscaping bedPictures are available upon request Thank you [redacted] Construction Manager

We have been in contact with the [redacted] The Salt chlorinator has been installed but it can not go into operation until days after the pool has been balancedThe customer has also been instructed on the maintenance of the finish and of the water chemistry and must keep up with this work The caulking is scheduled for the end of this week (weather permitting)The customer is satisfiedPlease see attached letter which we receivedIf you require any further information please let me knowThank you

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The response that Mr. Calvitti wrote focuses on the pool algae and a problem with the sand filter which have nothing to do with my complaint. To clarify what Mr. Calvitti is talking about I will explain that I ordered the pool to be filled with water the day that the pool was plastered as per the instructions of my salesman, Dominick. After plastering, the pool must be filled within a few hours. This of course costs close to another $1000.00 I ordered the water to be delivered from the water company that they told me to order from and when the pool was full of the water that was delivered it was totally green. I told Dominick and he said he would bring chemicals to fix it which he told me I would have to pay for. He brought the chemicals, charged me $100. and the water was still green. He said I had to wait till the chemicals took effect but the pool remained green. So he told me to take water samples to the local pool store and ask them what the pool needed. So I had to, since they clearly were leaving me with a green pool. The pool store ended up telling me the water had phosphates and that I needed other chemicals, for which I paid another $100. and that fixed that problem. As far as the sand filter problem Mr. Calvitti talks about, was when Dominick forgot to write on the contract that part of the job was to install a new filter box and timer. Since it was not on the contract he knew from experience that they would not send an electrician to put in the new timer so he said he would do it himself which he did. But when he did the job he caused a leak in the attaching pipe to the filter, which he then came to fix since he caused it. Apparently, he knew his company would not stand by what he had promised because he had forgotten to put it in the contract but he knew he had promised it to me so he tried to make good on his promise. Both of those issues have nothing to do with the current problem which was a leak in a different pipe by the regular filter, not the sand filter. It is clear that the plumbing that was done by the [redacted] sub contractor did not make a proper seal on the attaching pipe to the filter. And I do believe that if Mr. Calvitti had sent this plumber, their subcontractor that that plumber would have made good on correcting the seal on the pipe which I don't think would have taken a plumber very long to do. THis had absolutely nothing to do with winterizing the pool. If [redacted] had any pride in their name or product they would have sent someone out here to LOOK at it which they never did. When I called to say there was a leak, the only person I got to talk to is the woman who says she just answers phones. No one from the company other that Dominick, my saleman would even talk to me. Dominick told me to call the company but they will not talk to you. The woman who answered the phone said I had to fill out a warranty form which says on it that I have to pay for my own warranty work. After spending $30,000. on a pool renovation, one would think that the company would at least want to see what the problem is. They made it clear that they will not take ownership of this in any way, not even to talk to me about it or to look at what the problem is without me giving them my credit card first. Anyone looking for a reliable company should stay clear because once they get your deposit, they will demand a certified pre-payment check BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE and they will not even come to your house without that PREPAYMENT. No one ever came to the house to see that the pool was done correctly other than the saleman who is a saleman, not a technical person so whatever issues you have when they say they are done with the job is on you. Regards, [redacted]

In the spring of 2015, [redacted] contacted our office with a concern about a warrantyWe sent [redacted] a warranty claim form that he filled out and sent back to our officeAfter reviewing [redacted] ’s records, we realized that his warranty had expired [redacted] ’s pool was sold with a three year warranty on tile and copingSince [redacted] ’s pool was completed in the spring of the warranty thus expired spring 2009; April 21st After reviewing [redacted] ’s tiles, we found that the tile fell off due to frostWith winter being the coldest on record and the mesh cover used on the pool, this combination created the issue [redacted] ’s cover allowed the water level to rise to the tile line causing pressure to be applied to the tile and with the cold weather the water froze and turned to ice which caused the tile to pop off This was explained to [redacted] when he first submitted his warranty claim this past spring Once [redacted] received our response he called us and threatened to contact your office and his attorney On August 20th, we sent out our regional manager to inspect the pool and verify our responseThe shell of the pool is not cracked and the pool bond beam is completely intactWhat [redacted] is experiencing is weather relatedWe have attached a picture to show that there is no damage to the shell of the pool We stand behind our original assessment to [redacted] If you or [redacted] have any other questions, please do not hesitate to call Thank you, Eddie K [redacted] Construction Manager
