Review: Took 29.95 coupon to location to have a smog check on my [redacted]. Person at desk added almost 30.00 to the price stating it would be 58.00 (55 if I paid in cash?). When I questioned, he told me it was 10 more for Star plus 10.00 because my car is an SUV??? and 8 more for a certificate. I disputed, but gave in to save time.

While my vehicle was being serviced, I called a different smog service for which I hade a coupon for 19.99. [redacted] at that location ([redacted]) told me it would be 19.95 plus 8.00.

I returned for my car intending to cancel the service, but it was finished so I just paid the 58.00.

I told [redacted], the owner, that I believed he was over-charging. He had no reply. I told him I would not be back.

While leaving, I told an arriving customer of my situation and gave him the coupon for the 19.95 location. [redacted] cam storming out an told the customer, "Ill do the job for ten dollars less than whatever that coupon says." (This puzzled me because if he would have only taken 10.00 off my bill I would have felt much less cheated.). I asked [redacted] why he hadn't done that for me. He told me to leave and never come back and that he does not want my business.

I left, but not without telling him exactly what I thought of him.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I believe this company is guilty of false advertising and illegal charge inflation. Also, because this is a mandatory service by the State of California, it warrants investigation. I am a supervisor for the [redacted]; if I was investigating, I would interview all the similar complaints (many on [redacted]) and do a sting on the establishment.
