I am having an issue with California Pools of Temecula, California. I was sold a $2,000 Pentair IntelliChem system under the false pretense that it was worth the extra money as I would not need a pool person and it would take care of all of my pool's needs. California Pool's Regional Manager, Walt Virak, told me it was pretty much a "set it and forget it” system on several occasions, which is why I added it to my contract.
Once the pool was built, Walt showed me how to use the other Pentair products I bought but not the IntelliChem system as he's admitted he has limited knowledge of it himself. For example, he told us he did not know the probes had to be cleaned and just recently he did not know how to turn the system off as our pool’s levels are out of whack. Therefore, the system is now running nonstop. I had no prior access to any information on this system because he packaged it as a money-saving technology that would act as a pool cleaner substitute. He did not even tell me the name of the system until he installed it. He sold this to me as a great initial investment that would save me money in the long run as I would not need to contract a pool person.
Now many professionals, including a Pentair representative, have informed me that it is not a "set it and forget it" system and that it actually performs a few very specific functions. Since then I have watched official videos released from Pentair and have learned in just an hour that this system is performing a very different function than what I was sold on. Ultimately, I ended up having to hire a full-time pool guy anyways which sets me back over $100 per month.
