California Butcher Block

Review: In October 2013 we hired California Butcher Block Company, owned by [redacted], business address 1184 North Kraemer Place Anaheim CA 92806 cell phone/business phone ###-###-####, to make a custom center island butcher block for our remodeling kitchen project. We were quoted $1,200 for the island and that price included a cutting block to be made from the wood that was cut out for our cooktop. We paid $600 upfront, balance prior to installation.The island was installed durining Thanksgiving week 2013. We were out of town, but our home was occupied by a pet sitter and several contractors working on various remodel projects.Upon out return, we realized the counter top was cut wrong at one end and the cutting board was never left. For many months we wrote emails, called, and texted [redacted]. I have them all saved. [redacted] made promises to rectify the situation and never followed through. Finally in May 2014 (so six months later) I asked for a full refund, but said we still preferred a correctly cut island and our board. Finally on May 21, 2014 [redacted] sent me a text message saying he wanted to come to our home on the May 22 and make a new template. He said he was bringing [redacted] - Template Expert. We agreed happily! [redacted]'s reply text was "Thanks well git it done..." sent at 2:28pm on May 21, 2014.On May 22,[redacted] and [redacted] came to make a new template. [redacted] said the sub that did our job "Monty" would need to fix it or he himself would do it. We trusted him-to the point we asked him to make a template while there for a bar counter. We offered to pay. [redacted] said no, that he wanted to make things right, we had waited so long, the bar counter would be no cost and we would get the cutting block we originally paid for too. The new project would take 2 weeks to complete.Two weeks passed. [redacted] answered 1 text on June 18 that he would check project. Never heard back. Called [redacted] July 8 was told sub would not fix job, so [redacted] would not either nor refund us. Gave me a lawyers name to call.Desired Settlement: We want a correctly cut center island, the cutting board we already paid for and the bar counter that the template was made for on May 22 and Steve said he would make for us at no cost due to our troubles and his delays on corrections. ORFull refund of our payment immediately. If Steve wants the incorrectly cut center island he is welcome to come get it and take it away.Steve said a lawyer, Michael Jones, was to have contacted me - Why? It is Steve's issue with his sub Monty, not mine.
