Cabinet Dreams & Things Reviews (%countItem)

The company does not pull permits, is not licensed, stole from home owners, cause damage to home and vehicles without fixing. Raise contract price.
2/20/2019-the job was not done the right way and left undone.

Desired Outcome

return items stolen from my house and drop what they say I owe after they changes the contract price.

Cabinet Dreams & Things Response • Apr 25, 2019

No permits were required for the scope of work. We are licensed and insured. We use a licensed and insured plumber & electrician. We did not steal anything from the homeowner. We did not cause damage to the home or vehicle. No contract prices were raised. Add on contracts were created when the scope of work was changed due to the condition of the home.
This homeowner is a shyster. He uses unscrupulous, fraudulent and deceptive methods to get repairs done to his home for free. He lies and deceives for his own benefit. He has verbally & mentally abused my employees. He has harassed my employees. He has accused just about everyone who walked in the door of breaking something. He has refused to pay for items already installed and then threatened to get his gun. At this point I have no one who is willing to go there for fear of extortion and fear of life. I will no longer be a victim of this extortionist! I will not drop anything off what he owes as I have already dropped thousands due to his threats!

I am not sure how to respond to all of these accusations. It is a lie that I pulled a gun or even showed a gun to anyone in their company. I do have a carry permit and would never pull a gun unless physically threaten and needed to defend myself. Mike came to my house and he said he was supposed to take our microwave back with him, which was paid for in full. Mike said he was going to tell Dan I pulled a gun on him and ran him out of the house. I told Mike not to say such a stupid thing that I would only pull a gun if intended for self-defense, not for such foolishness. Someone may have seen a gun hanging from the side of my bed fully cased , but no one should be able to tell you what my guns are because no one has seen or been shown any of my guns. As for license and insured they went well beyond the scope of work not requiring a permit according to Pasco County Inspections. No permits were pulled. The accusation of wrecking things in the home and damaging the car, Dan and Mike are fully aware of these things that were done by their employees. We know this for several reasons. One being Dan stood in our house screaming at his men for damaging items and threatened to hold their paychecks for the damages done. Dan yelled at me stating that all I do is whine about the damage to my guitar, stove, car and floor. Regarding his men, I only felt sympathy for them when they showed up at our house with their heads down low. When asked what was wrong, they said Dan screamed at them again stating that it was the normal.

The only refusal of payment is due is to their part of not removing cost of items from the contract, for items that were not installed and items not supplied that are in the contract. The main contract also states 10% is to be held until the job is completed to our satisfaction. I have paid for the extras and all items taken. They actually owe us money since not removing the items on the contract not supplied or completed.

On May 2nd, they showed up at our home with another final bill that was higher than the last three final bills. Claiming that they had all the stuff that was taken out of our garage in the back of the truck and I could have it back if I paid this new bill in full. Talking very loudly and trying to intimidate me by twisting words on the contact stating what was written, wasn't what was meant. Saying they claim the contract was to install the guest bathroom counter top but not the cabinet that was under it. How would that work? The neighbor at an angel across the street, heard the commotion and told them to stop harassing and yelling at the good people in this neighborhood. He stated that they were trying to intimate me into paying the bill. He claimed he could hear their voices in the house. That was why he came out of his house and said something. This is the second neighbor that has commented on their anger and screaming at this job site. Again, I repeat the accusations he made about me are false. This job started on February 20th which was supposed to take around three weeks, even with all the extras. This left us with a torn apart house. I have been working for the last three weeks correcting and completing the job properly. Such as the doorway to the master bathroom closet was 3" to high and 1" too wide for the door. So I had to modify the door frame and door to make it work. When they were asked to put a vent back into the ceiling that was removed the worker stated Dan would not allow him to do that, although they put back the one in the kitchen. They only added one nail to the toe kit for the master bathroom cabinet. When asked if he could finish nailing it he said Dan told him he couldn't do that. The kitchen window grant sill is angled the wrong way allowing water to build up along the edge of the window. I have asked for a copy of their insurance, bonding agent, and license numerous times and it was not given to me. Again today asked for them. He made excuses and I was still not given them.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Yes, Cabinet Dreams & Things contacted us twice through Tile City. Tony the owner of Tile City (a contractor) came to our house and reviewed the job agreeing with us the job was very poorly and incorrectly done without professionalism and done to completeness from Cabinet Dreams & Things. Tony stated that if he would have done this job he would have never left a customer in this situation. He would have made sure that each of the items discussed would have been addressed and corrected, never leaving them the way they were left. He also stated the job would have been done professionally and in a timely matter. Tony also agreed no additional money was owed to Cabinet Dreams & Things. Tony went to Cabinet Dreams & Things to see if he could get them to agree on a resolution that he had come up with and thought would be a good solution for both parties. Tony advised us, we would have to sign a statement that we were pleased with Cabinet Dreams & Things workmanship, and that we were satisfied with the job.

Tony called on the 20th stating that Cabinet Dreams & Things refused most everything including the damage caused by them to the car and kitchen range. They did agree to make changes to the master bathroom, only if we paid them additional money for new materials to replace the ones that they had installed improperly the first time. They also offered to return the materials that they had stolen out of our garage, but do nothing about the dozens of other things improperly done. For this we would have to sign a statement saying we were well satisfied with their work and happy with the job and also pay them additional money. We do not agree with their very minimal offer. We felt it was insulting and meant to play on an elderly couple's fear of not getting the job completed. We would like this job completed properly by a third party due to the stolen property and an abusive and belittling tone towards us and also repair the damages that they caused.
