The responding employee was in my home for thirty to thirty-five minutes when he deduced the minor problem with the furnace and stated he would pick up the parts from the Lowe's located less than one mile from my residence. However he would not do the job then, but rather the following day, which I did not understand. The next day, the employee returned with said parts purchased from my local Lowe's and made the repair in forty-five minutes. When I requested the price, I was told that the repairmen don't discuss finances and that I would be receiving a bill in the mail. Once the bill arrived two weeks later, I was charged for 3.5 hours of labor, despite the employee working in my home for less than 1.5 hours. I phoned the company to question the charges and was not called back until one week later. The secretary/receptionist told me that "the boss" says the bill is right and I was also being charged travel time for coming to the job and going to buy parts. This despite my not asking for the job to be split over two days, the parts being purchased nearby, and the company itself being local. When I said I disagree with the charges, the receptionist became vocally belligerent, refused to allow me to speak to someone in charge, now claiming she was "the boss," and then stating, "we should have lied and told you that you need a new furnace." Their total lack of professionalism and appropriateness in dealing with this matter has been nothing less than deplorable and they clearly take advantage of customers by fraudulently billing for hours of labor and travel that never actually transpired.
