Burien Eyecare

I wanted to get a baseline eye exam for my 6 year old son and was referred to *** Eyecare by *** Eye Center in Burien because the latter did not accept my son's insurance. On October 1, 2019 my son saw ***'s proprietor, Dr. Jatinder B OD, who told us that he needed to use +1 glasses for reading and gave us a prescription. Not having ever purchased prescription eyewear for myself or anyone else, I had no preconceived notion of the cost. Right after our consultation Dr. B accompanied me to the foyer and immediately introduced to her office manager, Morgan C, who then proceeded to sell me a pair of their glasses for my son. The appointment had taken a long time, and my six year old was rambunctiously running around the waiting room/eyewear shop while Morgan sat me down and had me sign an agreement I could only half-listen to as I monitored my active 6 year old son. I was never given a copy of the agreement. (After repeated complaints and requests, two months later on Jan. 2, 2020 *** finally emailed me the "contract" I had signed.)

I ended up spending $685.00 for my son's first pair of reading glasses, which I immediately regretted. I knew I could not afford it, but just assumed that's what I had to pay. When I got home my family gave me an earful about the mistake I'd made, as the normal price for prescription glasses is a fraction of that (only ~$100 at ***). I tried to cancel the order the next morning, less than 18 hours after purchase, but was told that even though it took 2 weeks for the order to be processed, it could not be canceled.

As even airline tickets are refundable within the first 24 hours, I am shocked by the rigidity of ***'s policy. I had such a pleasant interaction with Dr. B that I was sure if I discussed the matter directly with her we could work things out. But Dr. B refused to personally respond to four separate requests for a return call. In attempt to avoid Small Claims Court, I am appealing to the Revdex.com.
