Ordered a flush valve for my *** toilet. It was in stock, great price and delivered in one business day for free. All aspects of the order were great.
I have ordered from build.ca a number of times. They have to able to fill my plumbing needs for specialty parts at a good price, with fast and free shipping. Even when parts were not listed on website, they were able to source them with no issue.
I was looking for a Tank replacement for my *** humidifier and saw that on build.ca which is showing low in stock, I contacted them on their web-page for stock availability on Jan 3rd (Thursday) and got a reply from Elfio (customer service rep) the same day telling me there's no stock and the earliest ETA is mid to late Feb. Instead of waiting, I decided to go for a new humidifier and spot one on their website with competitive price comparing to buying from other Canadian online retailers or the US. I emailed Elfio for stock availability and heard back within an hour so I placed the order that night. Next day Elfio confirmed the ETA of the shipment will be on Jan 8 (Tuesday), I got a system generated Shipping confirmation email on Jan 4th (Friday) at 10pm saying it will be delivery on Jan 7th (Monday) morning. Guess what, *** attempted to deliver to my office at 7:45am on Monday morning because the Shipping method is *** Express Early. No one's home at that time so *** did came back in an hour and a half later. For those who want to buy something with build.ca, I suggest email them before placing the order so you don't have to be upset/feeling bad if the item is unavailable.
Build.ca advertises that it has a price match guarantee from Canadian online stores.
When I enquired by email about an *** robe hook which is being sold for roughly the half their listed price by another Canadian retailer, they said they would not honour their advertised price match guarantee. The price listed by the other retailer is more reflective of the value of the product, which is evident by a simple *** search which shows the exact same item sold by various websites at a significantly lower cost than theirs at build.ca.
My email enquiry to them, sent on January 1st, 2019, was as follows:
"Hi there. I have been shopping around for a robe hook, and I noticed that you do Price Match. Do you honour prices from companies who are listing their product on *** If so, please see the *** XXXXXXX.002 Double Robe Hook which is listed for $21.06 CAD compared to your price of $39.75 CAD.

https://www.build.ca/AMSXXXXXXXXXX
I have seen similar price differences on other websites. If you can honour the price match, I will purchase some more items as well, to make it worth your while."
And their response, which was received today (January 2nd) was:
"Good Morning ***,
Thank you for contacting build.ca.
Unfortunately, due to our cost on AMSXXXXXXXXXX, we are unable to price match the $21.06 price."
So as you can see, their reason for not honouring their own price match policy is not that I haven't fulfilled the eligibility criteria. Their reason for refusing to offer the price match is that they've decided they don't want to.
This is poor business practice, and is blatantly deceptive.
I think it's fair that build.ca honour their advertisement which was displayed on the homepage of their website at the time of my enquiry (I have screenshot evidence of this), and that they remove their advertisement if they are unwilling to stand behind their claims. I realize there are more serious infractions that occur, so please do with this complaint as you wish. I just want the company to be accountable, more than I want the discount.
Hi ***,Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention. We have begun the process of adding a footnote indicating that some exceptions will apply.Regards
I ordered some toilets on April 25th. Told me it was going to be delayed until May 8th. Got a call on May 7th saying its going to be delayed until June 8th. Got another call on June 7th saying it was going to be delayed indefinitely. Got nothing from this company but a headache.
Terrible...Paid, Back Ordered, Never Arrived....NEVER AGAIN
-bought a *** thermostat accessory, pretty straight forward
-paid/billed to credit card immediately and was suppose to get it in 2 weeks or so
-got back order notice for approx 2 weeks added delay
-waited over 2 weeks and called to inquire of progress
-was told several times it would be investigated that day but MORE DAYS of delays occurred
-a few more DAYS passed to find out it never arrived and it needed to be reordered
- would take another 2 weeks or so to arrive
-after A MONTH of this and additional careless Follow Up delays, I requested a cancel and full refund and I would order elsewhere
-that appears to be handled ok, but I have yet to verify my refund on credit card.
We apologize for this customer's experience. Our back order lead times are estimates and sometimes our information from the manufacture is not correct. I hope they will give us another chance.
Sincerely,
Build.ca
poor ad description and return policy
I purchased what I thought was a *** valve and chrome plated cover but only received the chrome plated cover. I e-mailed them with the advertised description of what I purchased and they replied saying it was only a trim kit. The description clearly indicated a 1.75 GMP valve. I asked to return it, sure at my cost of $28. Never use them again.
Very late in delivery over a month on two incidence... do not use.
