Bradley C*** claimed to own this business and held a liquidation sale of our family home on May 30, 2018, including a carAgainst our wishes, he gave the car and keys along with the unsigned title and license places to the person who purchased the car that nightI continued daily to try to find out who had the car and license platesI had no idea if he or one of his friends were driving the car around under our liabilityI received either smart-aleck replies from Bradley or none at allApparently he was playing the same game with the person who purchased the car as we finally heard from him on July 7, This gentleman had been trying to find our how to get in touch with us to get the title signed so he could get license plates for itBradley told me to my face that he "disposed" of the license plates and the purchaser confirmed that the plates were still on the car on July 7thWhen I asked Bradley what to do with anything that was left over, he told me had someone who would leave the house "broom clean" for $When I went over to check on the house before closing I could not believe the mess not only in the yard (things left from four days prior outside and they had all been rained on), the garage, kitchen, each room of the house and the basement and stairway leading to the basementWe are still not sure if an attorney is going to be needed to finalize our businessI just want anyone who is thinking about using this company to have information before making a decisionTheir prior name was C*** Auctions (they had to change names of the company because of bad business practices)so you might want to check out that name on the Internet along with Bradley C***If you check into this business name, Kansas City Auctioneers, you will not find anythingI see they just joined the Revdex.com in June There complaints from others on Yelp and I am making this complaint to the Revdex.com so that people can be forewarned that this is not a reputable companyYou cannot believe a word that Bradley C*** saysI'm sorry I had to give them one starThey deserve none

Only after our auction in October we learned a person associated with *** *** held a loud party of teenagers at the home of a dead woman whose family had hired *** *** to handle its estate sale The police were called, neighbors could not believe something like this could happen, and the family was greatly saddenedWe would have never hired the company had we known about this I asked the executive director of the Kansas Auctioneers Association why the group did not at least censure *** *** She told me she was aware of this incident, but KAA took no action because it received no formal complaint I am the first to admit we didn’t do enough research before signing the contract with the owner of Kansas City Auctioneers We checked two references he provided, both glowingWe very much liked the fact that he had extensive knowledge about antiques and their worth and all this proved to be true However, we should have insisted on adding specific security, support, and sales transactions provisions to the contractOur contract called for delivery to us of the auction proceeds within five days after the auction We did not receive the proceeds for a month He said he had to chase down some bad checks with a “prosecuting attorney.” He did not share information to permit us to corroborate that claimThe consignment statement the owner provided makes no distinction between cash sales, check sales or credit card sales When an item is paid for in cash, it is impossible to know if that was the actual amount it sold for Many of the items listed on the consignment statement were not even identified Example: “Thingy under the tree.”
The owner of Kansas City Auctioneers lacks critical professional skills He did not send promised documents such as a signed, paper copy of the contract Although he promised to send several workers to help sort and set up, we saw only one in the days before the auction As he kept promising staff would be coming, we did not try to hire local help His computer system crashed during the auction, necessitating his father to come from Kansas City to fix itAt least states have licensing requirements for professional auctioneersKansas is not among themAuctioneers, like banks, handle a lot of money Auctioneers, like banks, should have a fiduciary duty to clients to account for transactions involving cash, checks and credit cards. There is no way to tell if an item sold for $10, $100, or $1,000.
Our experience with Kansas City Auctioneers makes me feel strongly that auctioneers should be licensed in Kansas At the very least, the state should publish a consumer’s guide to choosing auctioneers Or perhaps the Greater Kansas City Revdex.com could do it
