Brookview Apartments

Currently stationed over seas. Debt sent to collections with no warning and no information sent to fowarding address.Me and my wife lived in brookview appts for less one year. We had several problems with the apartment (bug infestation and no a/c) that caused damages to the apartment. I recieved orders in February of 2015 and filled all proper paper work to terminate lease. After 5 months of no contact from brookview we recieved a letter stating "third warning of non payment". We emidiatly emailed the renting office with questions of what damages. It took another couple of months to finally recieve the statement. We were charged for damages that were not stated during our move out I spection and were caused from the facility its self (the a/c compressor under the floor that stained the carpet). We sent a test cashier check of twenty dollars two months ago. This check was never cashed. We contacted the rental office again to discover that the check was apprently never recieved and that the debt had been sent to collections. We have as proof several emails regarding this situation. The attempt to pay was due to not knowing that the problem could be handled with no court system use. This being the fact that its expensive to fly from okinawa to the states to appear in court.Desired SettlementWe only request that the debt be settled with no charges to my wife and I.
