Brookings Auto Mall

***, ***
***
We purchased a *** from Brookings auto mall in *** and a *** warranty for it the same day.
The end of *** the check engine light and several other lights on the dashboard came on. We called and then brought the *** to Brookings Auto Mall to see what was going on. The car was under the warranty at that time.
We were called the following day and told that that do not have the *** scan code and the car would need to be brought to *** to the *** dealership for them to diagnose the issue. When I picked the car up they had cleared the history codes and reset the check engine light and all the lights were off. I called the *** dealership and they said they could not diagnose what yhe issue was without those lights being on. We would need to wait for them to come back on. They advised me to get documentation from Brookings Auto Mall regarding the visit so that when it happens again the warranty company can see it had happened and the codes were cleared. *** at Brookings Auto Mall gave me the paperwork needed. And did not charge me the $*** because they were not able to diagnose without the *** scan code machine.
On *** the lights came back on. I called and brought the car to *** in ***. They called letting me know on the *** that the warranty has since expired due to being over the milage limit. I explained that they had the paperwork from the *** visit stating the previous time and what had gone on. They told me I would need someone from Brookings Auto Mall to contact them and the warranty company before they go any further with my car.
I spoke to *** at Brookings Auto Mall and she said ahe would call *** and get back to me. I did not hear back and the next day I called she told me she had not been able to get ahold of *** at *** and had been put on hold 2 times. She then told me she would need her managers ok before anything could be done.
When all was said and done I have spoken to the *** warranty company and found out that in *** Brookings Auto Mall did call and asked about my deductible and what the milage limit was. They then did not file anything with *** after that phone call. *** in *** stated that the car should have then been trasfered to their shop with the codes and check engine lights left as they were when brought in so they could further diagnose what the generic codes *** and *** where. After speaking with the assistant manager and the sevice manager at Brookings Auto Mall they have told me they did what they should have and its out of their hands that the car now has a more progressed issue.
I spoke with an adjustor at *** and was told today on *** that the initial codes would ha e been covered and shoukd have been further diagnosed by *** back in ***.
I woukd like 1 of 2 things to happen...
1- my car be fixed and covered by Brookings Auto mall since the warranty was not used and honored as it should have been ( we paid $*** and some dollars for the warranty )
Or
2- our money for the full warranty to be returned to us.
If the car had been sent to *** in *** and been able to be repaired while under the warranty in *** I would not have an issue with paying this current problem. My husband and myself are small business owners and the thought of treating our customers and clients with this kind of dishonesty is unacceptable! I ha e spoken to several other people in the Brookings and *** area that have had similar experiences with Brookings Auto Mall and them not utilizing the warranty and saying its not covered by the warranty and such.
Thank you for your time and efforts to keep our businesses and other businesses honest and trustworthy!
We let the customer know that the codes could have been diagnosed further by *** even though they were erased as we had given the code information to the customer. That decision was made between the customer and *** not to further pursue the concern. We called *** about the present situation with the customers vehicle and the codes that were in the system now were not the same codes as the previous they were different and had nothing to do with the previous concern. The codes that were in the system in *** had not returned it has been 4 months and over 5000 miles with no return of the codes. Had there been an issue with the previous situation it would have returned by now.
1. It is the customers responsibility for all financial cost until it is determined if it is a covered repair.
2. These are unfortunately unrelated issues on the vehicle.
3. Even though it was unrelated we still came to an agreement with the customer to pay for this repair.
BAM,LLC contacted me and paid to have our *** fixed at their expense by a *** dealership.
