Review: On Oct 3, 2013 I signed a year lease until Oct 2,2014 with a roommate. On March 18, 2014 I had asked the leasing office employee about the procedures of making a transfer within the complex. The lesing office employee then gave me a 60 day notice paper to fill out and sign. She then stated to me that I wouldnt be able to transfer since the roommate would not be able to stay and afford the apartment complex on her own, due to her income. I then went ahead signed the paper on March 20, 2014 and handed in the 60 day notice to the leasing office and informed them that the roommate declined and I was staying until Oct 2, 2014. On March 22, 2014 I reported to the leasing office and infomed them that my roommate has moved out and "where do I go from here". Then the assistant manager of the leasing office came to me and stated " I know, your roommate came in and signed the 60 day notice and I allowed her to leave and she returned her keys to me". I then went to speak with the assistant manager and manager on March 22, 2014 and asked that they explain to me why my roommate was able to leave. I then informed them what I was told by their employee and the assistant manager then gave me attitude and said she didnt care the roommate signed a 60 day notice and she let her leave. manager then went on to inform me that there was a balance and I had to pay the balance. If I didnt they would evict me and it would go on my credit report. So I paid the balance and then filled out another application because the manager said I had to get approved again and wait to know what the results were. I waited a month for them to then tell me I had to pay a deposit fee of $1,000 plus $1,225 in a week to keep the hold. I then informed them I couldnt do that and the employee then asked me to put it on my credit card if I had one. I mentioned to her I couldnt do that and now I am forced to stay in the apartment. They then sent me a notice to quit and to pay another fee of $3,000.Desired Settlement: Would like a refund of the money I paid for my roommates half that I believe I was forced and mislead to pay, because I also asked the leasing office to contact me as soon as possible, so I could have a meeting with all employees that were involved in this scenario; as of June 25, 2014 no one has contacted me. So from here I would appreciate that I will be able to move out. P.S. I ALSO HAD ASKED FOR A COPY OF MY LEASE AND THE LEASING OFFICE INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT.
Review: This involves Broadmoors handling of contracts/customer service issues. There was not a complaint type for both, so I am writing it into one. I have been a resident for 3 years and have to terminate my lease due to taking a job with the [redacted]. Broadmoor office has always had a reputation of being very rude to tenants, I myself included. Their customer service lacks and it shows. This is not the first time they would not work with me. I am a disabled Veteran, who has served honorably 8 years in the military, and my income is based on the GI BILL and disability pay. When the furlough of October 2013 happened, there was a possibility that I would not be able to pay my rent on time. Management stated, it was not their problem. I was trying to give advance notice, and they wouldn't even work with me. But, I let it go. I also wanted to report they way they deal with contracts. If one breaks their lease, (because one has to take a job), one has to pay one months rent, plus a termination fee of $2500? I can understand paying one months rent and losing a deposit. That I did sign a contract, but to pay a termination fee of $2500, is implausibly high.I feel that this issue may not go anywhere, but I will pay the termination fee, because I signed a contract stating I would, but I feel this fee should be investigated along with poor service. This fee is unreasonably high, especially in the state of the economy. I trust, this issue will help someone else who has had a similar situation as I am having right now.Desired Settlement: It would be desirable to not have to pay the full termination fee of $2500, but if that does not happen, just to have a explanation of why $2500 exists when you have to pay one month rent as it is. T lack of service should be explored too. I would be happy to know that other tenants will not have to go through this.
